World gov't in 200 years. shit. The United Countries of Earth. And then the aliens attack.

We have to lead the world in our moral obligation to spread freedom and liberty. We are the currency the world banks on.

Might just be me, but, shouldn't we worry about fixing our own country before another?

It's probably just you.

We've been "fixing" our country since World War I and all that's given us is what we have today:

The IRS and a convoluted tax system that has seen a multi-billion dollar industry rise up around it.

A welfare system that is content to give a man a fish, but not teach him how to fish (because if you're not dependent on the government for your fish, you won't be inclined to run to it when it tells you someone wants to take your fish).

A central bank that much like all central banks owns you, your family, and your friends.

A federal government that's become a glorified Broadway spectacle.

Politicians who actually believe that they rule the population of this country.

A Southern U.S. that has stayed exactly the same since General Sherman marched to the sea.

Aging hippies whom infect young people with their bullshit.

Christians in Texas being allowed to determine what our nation's school children learn.

A mentality that constantly drives people in to the n00bfest servers whom then come complain on the forums about how their self-esteem wasn't boosted while playing.

And in regards to the World Wars helping our economy, World War I and it's fallout destroyed the economy of the entire world. World War II only managed to pull a few countries out of their crippling depressions simply because of the sheer scale of the war, rampant government seizures of industry, and the fact that many U.S. corporations were funding both sides of the war.

I find the current situation hilarious:
- French are first to fight (btw - I have french rifle from WWII for sale: never shot, once thrown on a ground)
- Germans are not touching this with a 10 foot pole
- Russians are appealing for a peace

From what I understand us Americans are mostly helping out in The Middle East because of the large oil supplys and its easier and CHEAPER to get oil from them then is is to drill in the Gulf. But it really is a ashame what the people of Libya have to deal with, Similar to the people of Egypt cept there leader is a complete bastard, stealing millions and killing who ever tries to stop him.

I may be wrong on some of this content so correct me if needed.

Beating another dead horse...

Google will tell you the truth: as expected "odyssey dawn" became a popular search term in March 2011 (http://www.google.com/trends?q=odyssey+ ... all&sort=0), but what is that small jump in Jun/Jul 2010 (http://www.google.com/trends?q=odyssey+ ... 010&sort=0)? And why is it coming only from US region? Those conspiracy theories...

Because of our power and role in international society today, the U.S. is relegated to the position of an offshore-balancer. This means we're practically forced to take the lead because nobody else can or will. We assumed that mantle from Great Britain after WWII. However, we are taking the well-tread route of great powers' decline because we are over-extending, much like the Roman and Mongolian empires, among several others. However, we'll always have a very global presence due to the importance of the nuclear deterrent.

Many people think that the U.S. is "imperialistic" or "warmongering" but those people just don't F*CKING get it: we're in this position because we're needed to be and another country will need to take our spot once we step down from our unipolaristic pedestal in order to preserve a semblance of security. Such are the teachings of I.R. Honestly, the U.S. and the world be a helluva lot better off if we we're back in the Cold War.

Humanitarian efforts such as this are positive and a good thing due to its force limitation, but wars like Iraq and Afghanistan were huge wastes of time and resources... not to mention life. Future world powers would do well to understand the concept of picking one's battles wisely.
