 Map Vote and Custom Maps
As per the post about getting new maps onto the main server: Jet wrote: As per Gman's request. This is the official thread to get maps into the main server.
The rules for maps: 1. Must have 32 spawn points. 2. Must be a CSS map. 3. Must be well designed (no spawning outside of buy zones, no glitches, etc) 4. Must include a link to the map
Make sure you test the map by adding a ton of bots to it and inspecting each team's spawning before suggesting it. You will be held personally responsible if you get a bad map to the server. I was curious if at the end of each map could we use Map vote to determine the next map. Meaning there would not be a set rotation and the next map would not be know until it is chosen. Also after a map has been chosen and played it will not show up in the next map votes for X number of maps. Just a thought as I assume that custom maps are going to be put on the main server in time and that having a map vote would allow us to pick some custom maps - possibly over a stock map that we have played already.

Re: Map Vote and Custom Maps
I think that's quite a good idea.
But I'm afraid people would always spam 1... that's usually what people do during a vote. But I support your idea man, we wouldn't have to play the same maps over and over until an admin comes in the server and changes it by himself.

I get what your saying but it is highly unlikely that n00b members or the normal pubbers would just hit 1 without knowing what it is because it may be a map they do not want to play, and we have a pretty normal community.

No, he said n00b members and normal pubbers. Wich happens a lot. The n00bs and the regulars would probably take their time.

When a map vote is put up by an admin, most of the time, there's at least a handful of vocal individuals wanting one map or another. There are enough people that care about what map that they're going to play next--enough that would take the time to read and vote.

Re: Map Vote and Custom Maps
There is a modified version of the map vote plugin floating around TF2 that has the choices on 6-9 or 5-9 can't remember instead of 1234 like normal votes happen on. gets rid of all of the "OMG I didn't want to vote for Italy, I wanted Nuke! I just hit 2 to pull out my pistol and it voted =("
If we used that for voting, people can't just hit 1 and they are more likely to read instead of mashing a key.

Re: Map Vote and Custom Maps
Or we could also add the /revote fonction. I know intox has this feature, really useful if you voted for a map that you'd like, but just saw a better one, or if you didn't press the right button

If we used that for voting, people can't just hit 1 and they are more likely to read instead of mashing a key. That sounds like a good way to do it. I like to choose a good map, and I don't know how many times i've accidentally chosen for a map I didn't like because I haden't noticed a map vote.

Re: Map Vote and Custom Maps
Yeah I didn't get the whole thing that spyda talked about until now, it sure could be a good idea to do this, would it be hard to change in the server settings?
