 The Time Has Come!!
I am re-formatting my drives today and re-building my RAID on my main machine. I'll be out-of-action for most of the day, but back in the saddle tonight if I'm lucky.

Are there any easy ways to save data when you reformat? I've been considering reformatting but i dont really want to put my 30gigs of "My Documents" onto DVD's.

Have you tried uploading all that smut onto some web space? I'll rent you out 5 gigs on my computer for 5 bucks a week!. LoL But, seriously, I forgot the web site that lets you store stuff online until you need it. When I find it, I'll let you know. Until then, just get a cheap external hard drive to store all your boner classics on.

I got a 100G external USB drive to backup all my "critical" items.
Done with Windows XP and most of my drivers and tidbits. Now I'm updating Steam and CZero.
I can tell a big difference in poerformance now that it's running clean, especially from the RAID-0 setup now.
Weird technical issue of the day:
RAID controller doesn't get listed like a standard hard drive does in the BIOS. If I boot the system while the external USB drive is connected it'll see it as "C:" and return a Master Boot Record error (talk about a heart attack the first time it happened). I have to figure a way to get it to see the RAID first so I don't have to disconnect the USB drive each time I reboot the system.
Weird.
While I'm waiting for CZ to install, I'm toying with the new DVD burner I got and trying to make a copy of "Flight Plan" for my trip next week. I think it'll be fun to watch an airplane-based thriller while actually on an airplane.

for making copies of movies i recomend a program called "Magic DVD Copier", it works really really well (takes about 10 mins to copy a dvd to harddrive, and about 10 to burn with my burner).
The only problem is that its not free, but there is a free trial, ive looked for cracks for it, but i cant seem to find any. I used my 21 (?) day trial to the fullest though.
I also have a free but less effective copying technique now too, if you want me to tell you about/have questions it talk to me on AIM, or post. (aim = same as forum name)

What SCSI controller are you using? Some you can set to hijack INT13 (IIRC) at POST. Also removing the USB device from your boot sequence in CMOS may work.

Naw, F*CK that. Get Nero Burning Rom. It's WAY better than Magic DVD. You can make customer menus for your DvD's. It's not free either, but I bet I can find a free copy and a crack for ya.. He He He.

Nero won't burn copy protected DVDs. Here's what I did that worked:
DVD Decrypter - Rip the DVD files from the disc and onto the hard drive.
Nero - Reassemble the DVD files into a smaller setup, removing unwanted content and auto-adjusting the quality to fit on a 4.7G disc.
DVD Santa - Burn the adjusted files to the DVD-R.
Worked great, but took forever. Each step in the process takes a while. I need to do another one to see how long it'll take now that I know what to do.
Hard drive issue? Still not resolved. USB devices are not in the boot sequence, yet it sees the USB drive as C: when the system boots. I'm about to reboot again and see if I can fiddle my way around it.

talk to me on aim if you want, there are alot more effective ways to do it.
If you use a program called "DVD Region+CSS Free" you can use Roxio 7.5 to copy dvds (even though it normally cant), basically you run that program and it tells Roxio, Nero, etc. that the dvd isnt encrypted, it doesnt always work, on new dvds (ones that came out in the last 2 weeks) there is a new type of encryption that doesnt work with that setup though. But i didnt have any problrems previous to that.
And then theres always the program i said earlier, it was acctually good/fast enough that i considered paying the $40 it takes to get it legally.
