 keyboard not responding on start up

Post keyboard not responding on start up
ok my friends keyboard and mouse dont work...

i can get into the bios and they work fine untill her computer gets to the windows screen then they just die...

i have tryed useing a usb keyboard and mouse
a ps/2 keyboard and mouse
and a usb keyboard and mouse with ps/2 connectors

and no its not the power supply i already checked that...

Try to boot in safe mode. Go in your control panel, open accessability options

Make sure you have NO checked boxes in the keyboard/sound/display/mouse tabs.

did you check all the accessability options with the mouse?

your ps/2 connection may be bad

make sure your bios settings allow a usb keyboard.

and there also might be another thing you can do

try and boot the computer without anything plugged in
you might be having a conflicting device on windows startup
especially if your using usb.

if you have a succesful startup shut the computer down
plug everything in then start it

if that doesn't work, try to plug the devices in after windows starts up.

weird I know, but I've had this problem before on many computers.

uninstall windows, do a fresh install....

Throw your keyboard away... kick it and make a fire with it... if nothing happen, press esc

well it depends some times the mouse works and some times it doesnt i think her computer is effed and she needs to reformat cause i know that will work and ill try what you said evil that sounds like it might work but yes i went into bios and set it to have usb keyboard and mouse so that is not the problem do you think it could be a virus that would do it cause my friend said that might be causeing the problems but she is looking for a way to get by with out reformating but i dont think its is posible but i would still lilke for some more idea thanks a lot guys for helpin out :D :D

Ness,

It appears your friend's computer is suffering from some sort of windows corruption. The keyboard and mouse drivers are probably corrupted. I would do what joe mamma suggests and format and reinstall windows.

yes... buy a whole new harddrive and install windows on that... make the current harddrive a secondary harddrive and you don't lose a thing...

could i just take her hard drive and hook it up to my computer and use it as a second or slave and get the info off of it like that

ya, thats right, try to boot up 2 harddrives with two operating systems, at te same time. we'll see how far you get.
