 Hard drive problem
I know this shouldve gone to the tech support, but I've had a long night with this POS and I want my topic to receive attention ASAP.
I just installed a new HD, it shows its there when I go to add new hardware, and it says its working properly, but when i go to my computer, it doesnt show up. wtf m8!?!?!?
can someone help me plz

umm....format it retard...use the little disk that came with it and make it ready for use

Go into your disk manager and try to re-label it as like.. Z:/ and see if it shows up.

ok so i was fudging around in disk manager it was unallocated, but i went to format it, and it wont format. I get some error saying I couldnt format it.

insert your windows xp cd and then create a disk partition and then format not quick format.

make sure the jumpers on the drive ARE set correctly

yeah you have to set one as a slave because the fisrt one is a master.
(even though it's not politicaly correct anymore)
primary and secondary are the new terms...I think
then you should be able to format it within windows by left clicking.

no, i think its still slave & master
i just got a new 250GB hard drive (cause my POS computer only has like 30GB) and in teh instructions it says 'slave' and 'master'

thats why i have SATS HDD there r no jumpers just plug it in and go plus it has a higher data transfer rate than the normal ATA HDD

Most PC's today use CS(Cable Select) on single drive systems. Now I have seen some systems that once you add a second HDD you have to change the primary drive from CS to Master. But anyways, you first have to partition your drive before you format it.

That is correct. Check your jumper settings & then create the partition. If it still isn't recognized in windows, you might need to D/L a driver...i don't see why tho. What kind of drive is it that are you trying to add anyway?
