so
thers a white square on the bottom of the heatsink. Is that the thermal paste? i thought i had to put it on myself?

make sure its not a piece of paper covering the thermal paste, most of the time the paste is either grey black or white but there should be some tape or paper covering the thermal paste that needs to be removed before mounting the heatsink just make sure
