I'd up the ante and hit 1GB RAM straight up. Also, I highly recommend a Razer Viper or Razer Diamondback optical mouse for gaming. They respectively have an 800 DPi and a 1600 DPi which means it's more sensitive than Ocelot around girls. And for a keyboard, I'd love to see you go with an Illuminex Light-Up keyboard. It's great for night time gaming.

Get a nvidia card for one.
Get intel they're way better for the money.
Save it another 100!

Disregard Crayola's comments (not that he doesn't have a view point that should be spoken, but because of the following).

Your choice of video card should be made by what games you play. If you play more nVidia supported games (Doom 3, UT2k4 [soon 2k7]), you should get an nVidia card because they'll naturally get a better performance. If you play more ATi based games (Half-Life 2, Guild Wars), get an ATi card, because they'll naturally get better performance.

I will include this though:

nVidia has powerful card out right now in the 7800, and SLi makes a beast of a machine, BUT SLi only works on certain games (i.e. nVidia based games). ATi is releasing their new dual card tech soon (supposedly a week ago), which will support ALL games, but their highest end card isn't as powerful as the 7800, but that'll be kicked in the nuts soon enough. Also, ATi's Crossfire will let you mix and match cards of the same chipset (i.e. different brand and/or Pro, XL, XT, XTPE, but not x800+x850) where as SLi MUST be two cards of the exact same chipset and clock AND manufacturer. So, the options are on the table, but as I said, it's just personal preference. As for myself, I'm waiting to see where the market takes us to make a real decision on my next graphic upgrade. Xbox 360 holla.

And as for your processor, I don't want to say Intel sucks whale C*CK, but that's what I feel. I've been consistently disappointed by every Intel PC I've ever owned. Plus you've got the basic FACT that AMD usually always outperforms Intel in performance tests. The exception is to see which one can get hotter and evaporate more liquid nitrogen in 5 minutes.

And now...

You honestly shouldn't need those extra power connectors. atleast one SATA pin is standard, 20 and 24 pins are standard, and unless your processor is OEM, it'll come with a fan (shitty as it may be, I use them. holla). IDE cable will come with your motherboard. And if you don't really need it, get an n-force 3 mobo and a radeon x800pro or something, it's all you'll really need if you're not planning on running CS:S at 1600x1200.

Also don't forget a monitor. I had to give my spare one away to a friend of my mother.

Gotcha.

Ok, I also just did some investigating on SLi and I found that you can actually create your own profile for games not official supported. So F*CK ATi. I've always ♥'d nVidia.

If you dont get 1gig of ram you will regret it.You can find a a gig for about 20 bucks more than that corsair.Unless you plan on running very tight timings you will never know the difference between good cheap ram and the expensive stuff.

Besides theres no garentee the corsair will run tight timmings.

i agree with you super, but im worried about a cheaper type of ram not being compatible with the MB or atleast not being able to run in dual channle mode like the the corsair value select
