 For Comcast users:
Just came across this on the Something Awful forums from a dude who works at the company, found it pretty humorous (and insightful!): Quote: I work for Comcast, basically a cable guy. Of course I do phone, internet, and networks as well. It's a decent job with good benefits (the free cable, phone and internet is nice!).
Unfortunately we rank lowest in the country in customer service for a reason. We're structured so each and every person's life is SO much easier if they spend their time covering their rear end, laying low, and avoiding work rather than doing things for our customers.
We lie to you. All the time. Every time.

 Re: For Comcast users:
Its so funny, I have a friend that claims he works for comcast But spends most of His time Sitting around doing minimal work, He doesnt show up on time, And is ill prepared for his job requirements. And comcast rarely send anybody out in a timely manner if things such as your modem go out Its usually a 3-5 day wait between the hours of 0:00 and 0:00 . The only reason We use them is because they are the only internet provider other than sattelite or dial up in this area. Fios is starting to recruit this area and before long ill attempt to convince my parents to make the switch.

 Re: For Comcast users:
It's pretty true. When I called costumer service for my girlfriend, I was directed to India where they weren't able to resolve the issue. The internet wouldn't connect after I freshly installed Windows XP on my girlfriend's computer. They couldn't help me, and scheduled an appointment for somebody to come out. It turned out that it was just because that SP2 wasn't installed yet that the LAN connection wasn't registering. Installed SP2, called Comcast back, canceled the appointment, and said good riddance.

 Re: For Comcast users:
Customer service from them in my area is amazing. Whenever I have a problem we call them up and they are here in an hour or two or the next day depending what time we call them. I have internet issues, not customer service issues.

 Re: For Comcast users:
I like being in an area where big corp telcoms aren't really around. Still have regional small time stuff. Still decent products but nothing ground breaking, but it gets the job done.
Now if I could only get decent routing tables.
