Why not? There is no set rule that you have to follow the original source to the letter. And there are many people who never read the book.

People on the interwebz express their frustration because it's an online community where people come to talk and discuss stuff. If they grow attached to a character, it is a testament to not only how well the story is written, but how well the actor portrayed the character.

How do we really know that was his true death scene? We never saw the sword hit his neck, we just heard the swoosh! I want to see Ned's youngest daughter kill Joffrey in a sword fight. I can't wait to see who they bring in actor wise for the role of Roberts older brother who is supposed to be the next king, we have not met the character yet but just heard of him and he is supposed to be badass!

Yea they made him out to be badass and I would think he would be none too pleased to hear that a little bastard is in his seat...

If there's that much outrage about him dying in the show, then they're doing a DAMN good job. Because I felt the same way reading the book! That's what the author WANTS. Believe me, there is not a lot of joy and happiness in those books. Everybody gets fucked one way or the other, generally speaking. (Almost done with the third one, by the way.)

And edit: If they didn't kill Ned, the series would have to change DRAMATICALLY from that point on. It would be a completely different series then.

Just watched the most recent episode. Even though I read the spoilers here, I was still shocked about what happened to good ol' Boromir. King Joeffry is probably the most hated person on TV right now.

I think the queen bitchcuntwhore and princess poopeater (you know who) are far more hated than the little shit.

good series but my perfect ending would be Khal crosses the narrow sea and butt rapes the land into oblivion with the final scene being everyone on a spike the end.

Khal and his army don't fight other armies that wear heavy plate, so I don't think they will do aswell as everyone thinks. There weapons are more for non-armour battles so I think they might get there asses handed to them. In the last episode that one guy who has a crush ont he Khalisie proved the weakness in the weapons against his plate armour.

I'm gonna read the first book this weekend and know everything, I can't wait!
