Yeah you gotta choose the religious camps carefully. Some will out-and-out try to brainwash your kids. Especially in Cali/Texas.

this, but one summer wen we moved to fl and the church we were going to paid for it so i went i was not impressed me growing up on a cattle farm and all ,the kids were all city people it was kinda shity.

I went to a "summer camp" it was pretty much a place to be watched on summer break
it was at a rec center with a pool and dodgeballs and shit

Camp Winabego Rockford Illinois was the first...think i was 8 or 9? The one thing i remember there was making wax candels...i had a thought to make a tie die swirly color candel...but it just turned out brown.

Camp Timberlost - Rockford again. This was a hella awesome camp that i have many fond memories of. The counslers were all cool, seemed to care about having fun, and wernt afraid to break one or two rules here and there to make sure we had a good time. its also where i "discovered" girls. Was 12, and sadly only lasted half the summer

Treehouse Camp - Somewhere around bloomington Illinois
this camp was a trip, if not a posterchild for a lawsuit. we slept in treehouses and did lots of outdoorzy stuff, learning about the native cultures that used to live there. The camp was cool, the counclers were ok. the worst part about it? the bugs. we lived in trees...which means that bugs that also lived in such trees did NOT like is there. Best part of it was, that there were alot of empty treehouses....which means those of us who "discovered" the oppsite sex had places to "explore" said curiosities. thinking back on everything though, i think one of the counslers was a molester or something. we had mass showers and he was always the one inside ours. i know we had to be supervised, but i think a creepy old man standing over us while hes in a room full of wet naked boys is a bit much (i mean what the hell are you going to stand around staring at? the floor?). that was the second half of my 12th year summer

Miller Park Day Camp - Bloomingtion once more.
Forced labor/Deathcamp. The worst year as a 13 year old i have ever had the misfortune of being alive through. For one, it was day camp....in other words you wake up at 6 am....get dropped off, wait in the park with your sack lunch and water canteen until 8, then from 8 until 12....you pick up trash and clean the park...oh thats right. there was NOTHING in the advertisment about that little nigget. after lunch which was from 12-1, you did one of two things:
A) Finished cleaning the park if you diddnt finish before lunch (most probable)
B) Joined the others accross the park lake and play boardgames until your parients picked you up.
Now not to say we diddnt have fun on occasion, as part of the park cleaning included taking care of the animals at the zoo which was kind of cool, but after the third day shoveling bearshit from the pens, you just dont think its that cool anymore. Its also where i learned how to hustle at a game of 5 card draw poker. after telling my mother all this, she yanked my ass out of that camp by week 3....when i came home exhausted with sunbun and blisters on my hands from doing landscaping. I made damn sure i was there if she signed me up for any more stunts like that. you have never seen a 13 year old so obsessed with fineprint than the kids who were duped into slavelabor.


Performing Arts Camp - Peoria/Pekin Illinois
Yeah...laugh...but it waznt another Miller Park Slave Camp so i diddnt care...that was until i got there. Performing arts camp was exactly that. it catered to singing, dancing, and performing...duh. what i DIDDNT know, was that i was one, of two guys on a roster of 60 at that camp at the age of 14. ya thats right. the ratio was insane (not to mention that the other guy was could not have been stright since he broke his wrist and spoke with a lisp when he talked). So for three months, i had a F*CKING blast. So much so that my mother took it the wrong way and signed me up for acting school...yeah, thats a story for another time.

I've been to a few camps.

Slaughters - Name makes you think people might have died, but nobody did, and it was fun. I went for two summers when I was 8 and 9 I believe. Lasted about 3 to 4 days each I think. Basically, it was all church guys and their sons. I went with my cousins and some of my friends were there too. The place was actually an island. We'd drive for what seemed like forever, boat out to the island, and basically just chill out doing whatever. Sit around campfires, if memory serves me right some of the older boys would box, and there was lots of fishing. That was pretty fun, but I sorta lost interest the following summers.

Band Camp - Yeah, I went to band camp. I believe it was like 5 to 7 days shortly after finishing Sophomore year in high school. It was alright for the most part. There was a lot of activities, practice with groups of other people that played the same instruments, and practice with everyone. At the time I played Euphonium, so I was with the Euphoniums and Tubas for the separate groupings. Each section played pieces for the rest of the camp at some point during the stay. We also got to listen to the section instructors do their own pieces, which I thought was cool. When the last day came around, we went to this school gymnasium in a nearby town and played for the parents and what not, then went home. Oh, and before I stop talking about it, yes, I do believe there was some buh F*CKIN' going on and I still don't know whether to lol hard or to cry. All I remember is this one Alto Saxophone player with the stupidest mohawk and some other kid going into the showers during the afternoon. Based on the looks of the skrawny ass sax kid, I believe buh F*CKIN' commenced. Aside from that I had fun though.

Thanks for the input folks. Yes, I'm sending my daughter to camp. An all girls camp. I've researched it for months and decided that may be what she needs to get away from this Mugen kid.

holy hell speaking of Mugen, i need to pick up my n00bfest fighter project again. havent touched it in ages and wonderfully doesnt require an internet connection to work on
