So that we can let LeCoq's "help me" post get back on track, and because it's healthy to obsess over liquor, let's each list the best liquor we've had in each category. I will go purchase some of your recommendations and unleash on my friends during classy parties.

YOU HAVE TO HAVE TRIED THE LIQUOR. Don't give me "CRISTAL CHAMPAGNE" because you heard about it in a rap song. Asshole.

Vodka- Grey Goose is just smooth
Gin- havent had gin
Whiskey-I like to keep it manly with Jack Daniels
Rum- Captain Morgan is my favorite liquor, tastes amazing!
Brandy- I've only had Presidente when i was in cancun, dont know about other brands
Tequila- its not fancy(15$ a bottle) but Don Diego Gold is the only tequila that doesnt taste like piss that I know. Theres pineapple juice in it and it goes down with a kick from the chili oil they put it.

Vodka - Zyr
Gin - Bombay Sapphire
Whiskey - I guess either JWalk or for single malt... something with a g. I can't remember, but it's good.
Rum - Monte Cristo Spiced
Brandy - wtf?
Tequila - LOL last time I had tequila I ended up building myself an igloo and passing out in it after I threw up on my friend.

Yes Brandy. It's a spirit not a wine. I take my cigars with Brandy.

Vodka - Whatever's cheapest. I can't tell the difference 'cause I mix.
Gin - Bombay Sapphire
Whisky - Jack 'cause I mix.
Rum - Barbancourt 5 star
Brandy - Korbel XS VSOP. Yes, it's the cheap stuff. Yes, it's amazing with a great cigar. I'm not sad that I'm so low class.
Tequila - Casa de Luna Blanco (had to look this up, every time I've gone tequila I've gotten way fucked up)

vodka - dont' care rarely drink it
gin - never had it
whisky - candian club, Jack Daniels or crown royal
rum - only the finest captain morgan goes into my drink
brandy - No
tequila - only when I feel the need to be utterly hammered out of control and stupid.

There's a difference between Whisky and Whiskey, folks.

Vodka - Tito's (it's made in Central TX and makes Grey Goose look like hobo spit and diesel)
Gin - Don't drink it -- tastes like bad cologne
Whisky - Glenfiddich
Whiskey - Tullamore Dew
Rum - Don't drink it -- too girly
Brandy - Call me a HOMOSEXUAL, but I enjoy Gran Marnier. It's a cognac, but that's still brandy.
Tequila - Don't drink it -- gives me flashbacks of being a barback and spilling a bottle of smelly-ass Cuervo in my office and having to smell it for a week because it permeated the concrete floor beyond washing out.

Vodka: Absolut
Gin: Don't drink it
Whiskey: Jameson
Rum: Don't drink it
Brandy: Drank some but don't even remember the brand...I'd rather have a dry wine to tell you the truth.
Tequila: Haven't encountered

vodka - Skyy (the girl that invented flavored vodka needs to be punched in her babybatter bowl. no man would ever do something this stupid to vodka)

Whiskey - Jack Single Barrel or if im feeling extra sexy in my gush that night, Gentlemans Jack on the rocks. If i could afford it, id have Jack SB flowing out of every water spigot in my house
rum - Cpt Morgan....only because thats what my family drinks. Hate rum to be honest.
brandy - Never had it
tequila - tequila ends up with me losing a few friends and a few teeth. never ever ever again will i touch that stuff.

Tequilla - Only had two types and my favorite of the two was patron. I don't know why you all say it fucks you up because this is my favorite hard liquor. I probably don't know what you mean because I'm fat and need to consume more than most.

Vodka - Belvedere or Chopin - for shots drinking (keep vodka in freezer before consumption and use 20-30 ml glasses). For drinks - any vodka can go.
Gin - Tanqueray / Beefeater / Bombay Sapphire. Of course with Schweppes tonic and slice of lemon.
Whiskey - drunk it with coke, so anything will go (even half gallon in plastic bottle for $8)
rum - TBD
brandy - TBD
tequilla - TBD

You may also want to try: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krupnik and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nalewka. Use 200 - 300 ml glasses. Do not do shots with that. Sip it and enjoy the taste and warmth going down to your stomach.

i haven't explored a huge variety of some of these liquors, so i'll only comment on what i can.

vodka - belvedere, grey goose, kettle one (my favorite for a long time), ciroc (good, and cool bottle haha)
whisky - makers mark, jack
tequila - don julio (one of the very best), patron (no i ain't black)

check out the bottle for this tequila, no, i haven't tried it.

Vodka - Crystal Skull vodka is by far the coolest to show off to friends, and i would have to agree with gman with titos, cause besides its amazing taste it has an amazingly low price, but for supreme quality Jean Mark XO
Gin - Beefeater 24 or Bombay Sapphire
Whiskey - glendornach 12-15 years sherry cast
Rum - N/A
Brandy - Jaegar is one of the only ones i have ever had
Tequilla - cabo wabo
Bourbon - red stag

My list may not have much merit cause im 18 but i did party my ass off through hs and in nyc for about 3 years.

Whisky - I believe same as Scotch so I am a Chevas fan.
Rum - Brugal Ron Dominicano 151 was the only one I liked.
