Post Survivalism, preparedness and the Bug Out Bag
So I just bought a brand new medium A.L.I.C.E. pack from eBay for camping and hiking, but it got me in the survivalist mood and I went ahead and made a bug-out-bag using my new ALICE pack. For those of you who don't know what a bug out bag is, its a "portable kit that contains the items one would require to survive for seventy-two hours (at least) when evacuating from a disaster. It is also known as a 72-hour kit, a grab bag, a battle box, and other popular names include GO Bag and GOOD (Get Out Of Dodge) bag," according to wikipedia. To be honest, I'm just gonna have the bag as both my survival pack AND my hiking/camping pack because I honestly consider the two the same and pack accordingly.

Anyone else prepared for a bad natural disaster, a failed state or the zombie apocalypse like I am? Yellow_Flash_Colorz_PDT_02

I pretty much just did what these two guys did and added a few things. Mine looks very very similar to the final product of the guy in the 1st vid:

part one

part two

What I added on was a small fishing kit, a collapsible cooking kit like this one Image and a Eureka Spitfire tent. I could safely say that I could pick it up and just get out of dodge and be self-sufficient for a while.

oh heck yeah, those rifles are sweet. However, I saw a video done on the Ithaca M6 Aircrew Survival Weapon and I was instantly sold. But to be honest, any gun is better than no gun when you need one.

haha, yeah, i can understand you disliking them after having had to use them all of the time. But I have to admit, its one of the best-feeling and most functional packs I've ever used or owned. Its ideal for what I will be using it for (camping, hiking, survival shit, paintball... you name it). I got the medium, not that large... so its alot more comfortable.

When you say ruck, do you mean that you'll be getting an ALICE pack without the frame before you leave?

So, is there an instruction manual out there for newbie survivors, like "Survival for Dummies" which includes detailed instructions on how to pitch a tent, how to use the cooking kit etc.? ;)

I laughed until I coughed up some fun-shaped vitamin-sprinkled cardboard nuggets.
