May I toss in my $0.02 regarding the cigar, even though I know you don't need the advice?

-Can't go wrong with a good Hemingway, weather its the regular perfecto or the 'short story' and reasonably priced considering how tasty is it.
-La Flor Dominicana pretty much doesn't make a bad cigar. Their 'Double Ligero' it really good.
-A small company here in CT called Battleground Cigars (http://www.battlegroundcigar.com..) makes some of my favorite cigars. A lot of their stuff is Civil War themed. I particularly like their 'Old Powder Keg'. If you couldn't guess, this cigar is a POWERHOUSE. STRONG cigar, but not really harsh, just really bold and tasty with a great aroma. This is one of my favorite cigars. Unfortunately, Battleground cigars aren't really well known and are probably hard to find, but luckily for me, a buddy of mine that owns his own tobacco shop drives to Battleground Cigars to pick up his order, so he usually has a constant supply.
-If utter opulence is what your looking for, Diamond Crown makes really really nice cigars. Usually around $14-17 a stick. Or you could spring for an 'Opus X' (from Fuente) or a 'Padron 80th Anniversary', both are usually $30-35 a stick.
-I also enjoy Olivas 'Nub' line. They're short and stout, 3.7" or 4" lengths and 54-66 ring gauge. Thick clouds of tasty smoke. They're just great. I love em.
-Ashtons are usually really good.
-Macanudos are over-reated.
-Davidoffs are over-rated.
-Most Montechristo's are good. Some are exceptional, some are mediocre.
-I really like Acid's too, but probably not so good to have with a whiskey.
-If your 80 year old buddy who owns the smoke shop will take you into the back room and sell you a Cohiba (a real Cuban Cohiba, from Cuba, not the unrelated, US-legal company of the same name), do it. Real cuban Cohibas are phenomenal. I underlined REAL there because Cohiba (cuban) is the most counterfeited cigar brand in the world.

as far as what would go good with excellent whiskey, I have no idea. I don't like whiskey.

a good ashton cabinet #7 is always called for. i take mine with a snifter of brandy.

Macallan 25 year. Had a bottle of this last year and it was amazing. ($500+ LOL)

Dude I seriously can't remember the name of that shop. I know the shop is on Government Street near the Scotish Pub and the Irish Import shop. But I can't remember the name. Just tell him that it's on Gov st, near those 2 shops and when you get in, you have a little room, 2 smaller rooms at the back full with cigars, and on the side of the shop you have a shitload of pipes, really expensive cigars (I've seen a 175$ one... i shat myself), and some useful tools for tobaco.

And Yeti, that was actually really useful, I smoke cigars since I'm 17, but I'm still a rookie at knowing what's better than what. So Gman's tips and your tips are useful, thanks!

Yeah it's serisously the best tobacco shop I've seen so far. It smells so good, lots of pipes and old stuff, shitloads of cigars at the backstore. Paradise for those who love smoking real good shit! Pretty sure you can still find better in USA though (I bet in Texas you can find an awesome tobacco shop too)

So a little update

I bought a 750ml Grey Goose Vodka (30$)
I bought a 750ml 15 years old Johnnie Walker Green (35$)

Now I'm looking for glasses. Are there specific shape for vodka and scotch glasses or size? I tried to google it, but it gives me pretty much random shit so I'm asking to real pros and grizzly looking n00bs like gman or coach or anyone that likes this stuff.

Anyway - for vodka glasses buy 20-30 ml glasses. I have 30 ml and they are good for drinking with friends, talking, and not gettgin too drunk too quickly.

What you said? "Do not buy grey goose made in pu$$y", actually, a lot of insanly good alcohol brands come from France, get over it. Better liked what Gman told me, by describing me how I should find the right vodka taste, and tasted the grey goose and I'm not disapointed at all.

Also, the gift won't be to get drunk in one night. He doesn't get drunk anymore, he just drinks Sometimes, when he feels for some scotch or vodka. F*CKIN' engineer likes it that way.... high class F*CKER.

Grey Goose is the best vodka without a doubt so get him that for sure.

Scotch/whiskey is a different story and can be complicated and expensive. I'd get him the high end Black Label of Johnny Walker, it's expensive, but probably some of the best whiskey there is.

Guys stop telling me which alcohol I have to buy, now I only need the cigar. I already bought grey goose, and already bought johnny walker green (and stoner, the high end label isn't black, it's blue (shit costs 230$, so it's a big NO)). Paid now I have the glasses, so all in all, I paid 100$.

Need the cigar (a solid 40$ on it), the cigar tools, and the box which would cost 50$ to make (making it myself, then my grand-pa will work it to engrave "Charles" on it. Yep, almost done!

Johnny Walker is F*CKING incredible btw, F*CKING hell I had to hold myself to buy a second bottle when I tried it... INSANE!

You will not go wrong with a good Ashton Cabinet. I've never had a bad smoke. The Cabinet line comes in many shapes/sizes. Here in the US they run about $15 per. I go with the #6 or 7 depending on how long I want to nurse my cigar & brandy.

Grey goose is not the best vodka. I concur with carrot. Johnnie isn't a bad way to go for not single malt.
