 Re: Assassination in Arizona
I'm sorry but you guys aren't seeing the true story about this.
As much as it was some crazy anti-government force, They are going to try to make this a point that guns need to be controlled. If this congresswomen dies from this, she will be a martyr for the cause of gun control. this is going to be the worst thing and watch the bill will be called the "whatever her name is" bill

 Re: Assassination in Arizona
Yeah, I've already seen at least one of my friends jump on the "LOL WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE 2ND AMENDMENT NOW?" train, and I fully agree that it's a bullshit response. If a crazy guy is dead set on killing people, gun control is one of the last things that's going to stop him or her. Getting ahold of a gun (through theft or other means) is the easy part when you're planning on offing a bunch of people and probably landing in jail for the rest of your life/getting raped by Bubba/dying from a lethal injection.

 Re: Assassination in Arizona
that kinda makes sense though, cause a new arizona law went into effect last summer allowing concealed weapons without a permit and another to allow guns in bars unless signs are posted prohibiting it. how many shootings does it take for them to really change the 2nd amendment? columbine, virginia tech, numerous other schools, etc. if they change it now after a politician is killed, then you really know the government only cares about itself. (not saying it will ever really happen, especially without a revolt, but they are definitely going to try to repeal it.)

 Re: Assassination in Arizona
Always seems like it takes a death to change a law...Hopefully people will act quicker in the future and change something BEFORE someone gets brutally attacked.

 Re: Assassination in Arizona
first.. the guy wasn't completely batshit insane, he still kept his logical sense, just his fixation on things is incredibly blurred.
second.
gun laws will change nothing, they never have and they never will. In fact guns aren't even teh issue at hand and never will be, so until people realize that nothing will change.
What is the problem and is completely ignored because people cannot conceive of it, is that north american culture and what is slowly but surely becoming world culture is fixated on violence that should never have been.
Its impressive how many people actually believe man is innately violent.

 Re: Assassination in Arizona
Are you F*CKING kidding me??! What kind of sick motherfuckers would do this?? I mean, yeah, they protest MILITARY funerals, whatever...but the funeral of a little girl? Honestly??! What possible reason would they have to protest the youngest victim, ANY VICTIM, of this tragedy??! I hope they get vaporized. Period. End of story.

If you could trade the lives of the innocent people who died in Arizona, I would do it with the Westbro Church members

I'm going to refrain replying anything lengthy to this thread because I see it on the news all day.
I'll just reply this: "watch" that's it.

I came across this today, and it's about the closest thing to a case study about Jared Loughner that you'll find: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/16/us/16 ... =7&_r=2&hp
