the way it stands, 99.9% of all states follow this law (cept maybe for California...since there weird)

Pet owners are responsible for their pets behavior and actions either in custody of, or absent to. as long as ownership is claimed, the animal becomes the legal and financial responsibility of the claimer in cases of property or personal damages.....just like a car.
when you take a car, you are responsible for it if your driving it or not. If your parking break fails and your shit rolls all the way down hill and takes out a Popeyes Chicken, then you will be held accountable for the damages.

now sadly, most laws list dogs under property damages which means you probably wouldent get much for the lawsuit, MAYBE the entire vet bill, BUT.... if you appeal for property damage with threat to the general public, you can get much much more. what that translates into, is were there any kids in the area of the attack (if it was a park, im sure there were). if that dog was capable of causing that kind of damage to another dog, any judge can translate that into someones kid getting their eyeball eaten, and we all know how much we LOVE our kids, especially when they get hurt.

you have the severe legal upper hand if you track her down, and also, a police report would probably be warranted. the damages exceed over 500 bucks so you have the legal right to file for a "hit-and-run", an anonymous animal attack. the only downside to that is they would legally take possession of the dog citing public danger, and he would probably be put down depending on how bad his history is, and if no one willingly rehabilitates him.

thing is, it takes alot of neglect for a dog to actually attack and harm another dog, especially out of the blue. Now all dogs have personalities like humans do and you get your weirdos, but 9 times out of 10, the dog is suffering form some kind of abuse and that pent up anger and saddnes translates into people getting hurt. dogs rely on us to control them, because they are not at a point where they can conscientiously control their urges. imagine that if every time you got frustrated out in public, you would start punching people at random. thats similar to the psychology of dogs, they do not possess the intelligence to distinguish on their own the difference between good and evil, right and wrong. they only know the difference between praised and punished, and we sadly do more punishing than praising.

I wouldn't go as far as blowing any part of a dog off because he bit my dog. I'de be really mad at it, but it's in their nature. Dogs just tend to be apprehensive around other dogs they aren't familiar with. It's probably just a result of how the dog was raised and treated by it's owner. Some dogs are just happy and playful. Others will be tense and aggresive. If your dog is a happy go lucky type, a dog park is perfect. But if your dog tends to be a little snappy around other dogs, it is your responibility to control it if you decide to bring it to a dog park. It's not the dogs fault, it's all on her. Now she needs to take responsibility and pay for the damages she caused.

so, not to revive an old thread, but thought i'd put up a recent pic of my dog since he lost his eye a couple months ago. he's doing well, almost like it never happened. no updates on the retarded bitch or her dog; still keeping an eye out for them.

Damn, I'm owning a german shepherd (4 years old) since he's born, I trained him so I'm the boss of the house and we're very close. I don't know what I'd do if a dog would kill (even wound) mine. Of course it's not the dog's fault, a dog is impulsive, it doesn't think that much. I think I'd beat the owner's ass so F*CKING bad for real.

i love dogs but that's totally uncalled for, all of our dogs were very aggressive towards other dogs and we worked our asses off to get them to behave in dog parks and what she did is just so F*CKING retarded it pisses me off becuz i've seen women like that a lot. BItches get big ass dogs to feel safe but they can't F*CKING take care of them, it just pisses me the hell off....

that sucks but i'm glad hes okay :( should of got her information and made her pay for it. i had a incident where my neighbor's rottweiler pulled my Scottish terrier through the fence and just about tore his neck out. i almost pulled a gun on that dog cos he wouldn't let go and ended up with a $3000 vet bill.
