Re: Post a video of you playing a musical instrument.
My uncle tried teaching me how to play guitar and drums when I was younger. Butn with all the skating I did back then, I never really found any interest in it. Now watchin Omega play makes me wish I would have, cause nowadays it's a hell of a lot more interesting to me. You're good Omega! I think it was the last video you posted of the Jazzy stuff(sorry i'm not sure of musical terms lol) You said it was rough. I thought it was really F*CKIN good.(I still owe you a video of me riding, but i've been to lazy to actually get on the bike lately :( I actually think the riding days are coming close to there end and I don't know a way to put how much that saddens me. Just gotta get life on the roll then worry about my fun.)
Oh and Metalgod. F*CKIN shit you're good!
Luff, it doesn's sound bad to me. I found it catchy. Then I noticed your hair in the back and laughed lol
So far i've enjoyed everyones videos. But when I pressed play on Tazz's I actually expected something serious. I was rollin haha!

Nice virgil, like it!
I'm currently working on Flying grave, a vibe solo, and then I'll start working on a Gary Burton's solo... REALLY hard since Gary is one of the really bests vibe players on earth, and when I mean very best, I mean he might be 1 of the 5 best players. I'll post the first solo when I'll be able to play it correctly, then I'll post another one in a couple of months

I was asked to go to the blue coats, madison scouts since scott borema was the director of music at emu where i went to college, but since the majority of members went to southwind and it was my first time marching corp I went to southwind though I really wanted to march phantom anyways thanks for the response.

From this morning. Random medley.
Other than the beginning, it's pretty much me. My left hand is double-jointed so it's really hard to move along the fretboard, I need to train my fingers.
The guitar needs a new bridge piece, it's lifted up about a quarter inch on the back, and I tuned it by memory.

Lol, don't tune it by memory again ;)
But still, that's like 2x better than what I can do with a guitar...
Yeah but I have really bad focus, so it takes me forever to practice enough to do anything. Also, I forget to practice as often as I should. The guitar is hard to tune because of the broken bridgepiece, so it gets out of whack easy.

When you start to play stuff you really enjoy, and when you start to see how much progress you're making, you'll want to play guitar all throughout the day. Its THAT passion that makes good players. Don't lose patience. Just get through the bullshit parts of learning how to play and you'll begin to love it. The guitar was out of tune, yes, but you played the chords well and you tried to improvise. You'll get better and begin to blow ppl's minds! Keep up the work, broseph.

Thx for the encouragement! I'd probably do better if I actually practiced more than once in a while and had lessons, but I like the idea of being self-taught.

I think that learning by ourselves isnt a bad thing at all.
I see it like this : when you have a teacher, the only thing he does is telling you what's wrong, and what's right. But the only way to get better is by practicing, doesn't matter if you have the best or worst teacher on earth. Omega's right, keep up the work! Every godly musicians started at some point where they had to focus and tell themselves to practice even if they didn't want to.

Oh, and the best musicians are autodidacts.
I agree on most counts. I think that music theory helps but I have only heard this from a few musicians who studied it in order to get better, having been autodidacts to that point. I can barely read sheet music, and it's a lot like math so my head hurts when I try to use workbooks. I think that knowing what all of the notes are is probably a good thing because you have something to call each sound, but it's just as good to learn where each sound is made and just remember. Creativity seems to arise easier when things aren't learned in a rote manner prescribed by another person.

Yeah, I know quite a good deal of music theory, yet I taught myself every bit of it. It was actually incredibly fun and bolstering to my pride to see how my playing and improv blossomed after learning the modes, scales and chord-theory. It wasn't that difficult, either. The hardest part of learning any instrument is learning TECHNIQUE and execution and then trying to get your fingers to play the ideas that you hear inside of your head.
