It all depends on what you plan on doing with it. If it's just a camera to take lovely pictures on vacation or family outings then either will do. If you plan on taking photography to a more serious level then the Nikon will have way more to offer with accesories. Honestly if it's the first one, go with the Canon since it has more megapixels for the money. Don't worry about the FPS, that's only if you need to shoot really quick like sporting events and you won't notice the difference in .6 of a second as a novice. Remember to price around, some camera stores will put a better deal on the table to get you away from the big department store packages, haggling will be your friend.

Thanks! I was thinking about going with the Nikon. I had a little bit of hands on with both of them and the Nikon seemed a little easier to use. I was wondering if anyone owned one and had a bit more experience/opinion on one. I have read reviews on each but was trying to get some more feedback.

I prefer Nikon but that's just a preference. I think they are far easier to use and built far sturdier then other makes. Canon are good too but I would buy Nikon all the time since it will work with all my old Nikon equipement. My camera is over 20 years old and still looks brand new. I also prefer how Nikon still likes the use of dials on the camera's over all the push buttons so you can change stuff on the fly in the view finder and not have to stop. They also have the best built in metering systems on the market. Play with them both and go with the one that feels the best for you and is the best deal, you can't go wrong with either one.

If it's a DSLR camera, go with Canon. They have been really good with DSLR cameras. If it's a point and shoot camera, whatever floats your boat.

I ended up getting the Nikon. I really like it so far. There is soooo much you can do with it. I'll upload some stuff after I play around with it some more.
