Just kidding, I have a problem (Not penis related). Every time, or almost, that I get near an enemy, whether it be peeking out around a corner, strafing, whatever, I seem to lag. I've fixed all my rates and interp and lerp and all that good stuff, so I'm wondering what the problem is. It sucks that about 30%-60% of my deaths are lag related. I heard someone else say something about this yesterday when we we're playing Aztek, so I thought I should post about it and see if anyone else has this problem or knows how to fix it. Thanks!

I was getting the same thing until I started closing other apps on my system before I launched CS. I think the issue was VMWare Workstation for me...on old CS:S I was able to run without problems and have 2-3 virtual machines running in the background, this new version does not seem to like sharing the CPU with anything even though I have a quad core proc.

So I ran the test and my average FPS was 189. So now it uploads it to Valve and I wait?

When you say lag do you mean your connection hanging or do you mean visual things.
Also which of the last 20 updates did this start at and did you change your anti virus/firewall at all?

I mean my screen will pause just as I'm coming up on an enemy and then when it starts moving again, I'm dead. I'm pretty sure it started with the new big update when they added all the "cool" and "fun" things to CS:S. Also, my antivirus is the same, I haven't changed anything or added anything on my computer.

do net_graph 1 (or 2) and monitor your rates as you go along, when your game spikes take a look at net graph. If you're updaterate (I think it is) decreases dramatically and choke ensues its your connection. this happened to me tons of times wehn I first came back in march/april.

i've run the video stress test and everything was smooth as silk. i start playing online and things get choppy laggy. therefore, it has to be either latency issues or the great new net code that came with the update; i tend to think it's the latter.

Well I've been playing around with interp (something that was recommended to me) and it seems to help, although I still lag every so often when I peek around corners or strafe...what can you do...

what is interp? maybe my problem as well i already replaced my power supply twice still no better

Also, it might be your USB ports.

I get the same thing sometimes. I noticed it occurs most frequently with other players using extremely low interp settings. I got 10-15 choke when ever I got too close to Omega or Mossy last night. Since interp is related to the speed and frequency of position and firing updates, might it be interpolation lag between two significantly different settings? Not sure how to mend that, except dump my slow 1m DSL for 2m or better to match speeds.
