The thought process/reasoning in the OP is far reaching at best. If anything, taken at face value, it carries the weight of a horror movie. It's meant to incite feelings of fear in us, just for its own sake.

So I treat things like this as a fun diversion, a bit of entertainment, but that's it. What I can't stand is when people who are truly terrified by this shit try to stuff it down my throat, as if spreading this type of religion has some positive outcome :)

Kabar, you post identifies the fact your point is pure speculation. It happens every 11000 years. Really? (Sorry coach, had to borrow your saying). How does anyone know or prove that. Tell me it's by analyzing layers of earth. Fine. That may make it a more likely speculation, but it's still 100% speculation.
