Not sure if it will affect your HW lifetime -- but it's probably a BIOS setting and might even be a setting you can change in a software applet. For AMD its called like "Cool n Quiet" and a setting in the BIOS -- I disable that immediately.

It's probably pretty good on understanding the required load on the CPU and adjusting itself, but there is some inherent delay from the time the demand ramps up until the processor can be similarly ramped up and I'd rather not have it.

I just realized that my case is way too F*CKING small. WAY too small.
It's an Antec 1200. I decided to do a bit of an upgrade and finally purchase a quality-style case from a well-known manufacturer and definitely a great company, Lian-Li.

This case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... -_-Product is now on it's way to my house. It's huge, quiet, easier to clean, and much more easier to manage.

I suggest that you purchase this case if you need something bigger than just a full tower, they call these super full towers. Basically they are giant server towers, but for gamers. I actually like the look of it too, it's simply, yet packs an assload of power. The next couple things on my list would be to get a blu-ray drive, a big ass monitor with HD connections, and water cooling. I'm currently overclocked to 4.0 ghZ, and running very stable.

My current system is running like a champ, an with the new case, more room, and better circulation with airflow and heat being dispersed from the top rather than the bottom. I may be able to squeeze almost another gig out of it. I looked at the temp of the cpu before I overclocked it. 101F. That's an OUTSTANDING temp!

and acid, wtf, the antec 1200 too small?? i have that case (not using it now cause i broke the side panel, but probabyl switching back to it soon cause there is more airflow than the crap im using now), and it is a F*CKING beast. it is HUGE! y would u need anything bigger????

The antec 1200 is too small for me in terms that once the video card is installed there is absolutely NO room to run wires behind it. I ended up breaking two of the lights simply by pulling the fans out normally. The wires ripped out. Two fan lights don't work. The bolts to hold the drive bays and fans in are stripped. I will never have to worry about that again.

Change the voltage manually, make sure that there's no CPU threshold or power consumption option that's enabled. That may fix it.
