Tiki, send me the pic and I'll take a look at it, play around as it's hard to know what the issue is without seeing it, or post it here.

E-mail me the picture: stevedap1rate@live.com and I'll take care of it for you. Due to lack of information "your type of photoshop and your knowledge of the program etc". I cannot give you step by step instructions.

Re: SO, question for pros at photoshop
there are two tools on the tool bar that should intrest you very much.
these are known as the dodge and burn tools. now the burn tool is used for under exposed areas, or areas with heavy shadow, and the dodge tool is for the opposite. used to darken areas that are washed out with heavy lighting.
use the dodge tool and set the opacity at about 22%, use a few clicks at a time. work slowly. use as wide of a brush as possible and use a dappled or feathered edge, no hard edged brushes, this will help your blending. do not increase opacity, just keep dodgeing the same area over and over a lil at a time.
also command + L or Control + l brings up your curves.
use the curves to ajust your lights and darks. i would suggest curving out your lights first, then mids.
hope that helped.
