Any job is a good job Caniboid. Just take it one step at a time and take the opportunities that present themselves when they come up.

I started out as a dishwasher and now I lead technical teams with scores of developers. You never know where a job will lead until you get there, and every single thing you do in life adds to your bucket of experience.

Yep that's very true! I've been trying to do that with all the jobs i had. I've always busted my ass as hard as possible for my employers. But I keep getting the wrong jobs. I worked at Wal Mart for over 2 years. I helped stock the store after construction and I trained all the new employees and then they laid me off out of all the employees because there wasn't enough work. I never did shit wrong either. Just so happened other people "had better personalities." Then worked as a box builder for a high end Cupboard business. But in the winter work was slow so they had a mass lay-off. Then for almost the last 3 years I worked construction for a high end Deck and Fencing company. Yet again, laid off due to lack of work. Every job "can" have good opportunities. But it takes getting the right job to actually get you there. I just chose all the wrong ones. Now I am just trying to find opportunities in fields were work wont slow down and get me laid off again. So F*CK I figured there was 3 job opening for a garbage truck driver. We live in the laziest, fattest country in the world so I doubt garbage is gonna slow down at all. Just like working for lets say BNSF. They will slow down from time to time, but we always need trains, planes and automobiles. Things like that. So i've just focused on those things since I can learn them a lot quicker and just work my way up from there. I could try getting some sort of entry level desk job or something, but i guarantee it won't last. My brain just shuts off in those types of situations. I can try as hard as I want, but i can't focus for shit so nothing sticks in there. But once I take something appart, i'll be damned if I can't put it back together. You just have to pick the rite fields and anyone can be successfull as long as you're motivated and strive to. I might be young and seem slow sometimes, but i've got my head in the right place and I won't get to angered by critisizm, i'll just take it in and learn from it. So gimmie some more ideas. I need em if this job doesn't work out.

Ya and shredders right. Experience brings opportunities. So no matter what you do it just broadens the variety of things you're capable of doing.

Yep. I Came from poverty and paid my way through college to get an engineering degree. There was a dead job market when I graduated, so I ended up looking for another career. I'm in IT distribution sales now and although I would be making more money engineering, I'm doing pretty well for myself in the new career. I bought a new Mustang last year and just closed on my first house yesterday. Hard work can get you through a lot of downfalls.

Congrats on the house, Apex. Owning a home kicks major ass.

That's awesome Apex! Congrats on the closing! I don't really have much to show for myslef anymore. Sold most of it to have money to pay off hospital bills. Had a decent truck i really liked, but it helped pay off quite a bit of what I had left, so it was worth it.

Heck you are a young guy...at 22 all I had to show for myself was what was left of my last paycheck.

It's gonna come together for you man...my career did not really kick into high gear until I hit 30. Most of my friends were the same way...it's not uncommon at all to have to try a few paths in life out before you find the right one. Just don't be afraid to switch gears and move in a different direction when you think its the right thing to do.

Hahaha ya sounds exactly like me. I'm young and when I have money I try to save what i can after I pay my dad rent and pay for smaller bills. Then something comes along i've always wanted. Then I figure i'll start saving after I get that. But there's always something new you want lol.

Ya I don't expect to do great any time soon. I've just been using my friends as motivation to do better for myself. Noticing they are screwing themselves over just makes me want to do something good for myself. I'm always willing to try something new and see where it takes me. I feel that if I don't i'll just stay at the same point and never really progress ya know ?
