I'm so excited! Interviewing for a Garbage Truck Driver Trainee position with Waste Connections. Seems like a pretty good job to me. Starts at $14.35 an hour with full benefits. They'll help me get my CDL, then once I get that I get my own route and a bump in pay. All i've been doing besides CSS lately is applying for Union jobs. So finally getting an interview for one of them has me hoping for the best. Been thinking a lot lately about what I need to do to get my shit on the roll. Been making a lot of plans lately and getting a job like this is first on the list. So if this works out it will be pretty easy to start checking off things on the list(Like getting a truck, start making payments on my massive hospital debt etc.)

sounds good, i was looking at the same job where i live it's 16.50/hr up here full benefits too, but i kinda like my security job where i do nothing all night..

lol Ya to bad of an injury not to use the pain med button. It wasn't morphine though. Forgot what it was called, but it helped! Might as well have stolen one, it costed enough having them use it alone :/ Next i'm in there I might have to become the new owner of a defibulator lol

Well everytime i am in the hospital which is a lot.. i have a good time. when i get home i have enough stuff stolen to build 3 full medkits...

also that rubber tubing they have in the hospitals makes the best slingshots.. or paintball launchers.. depends on what you feel like doing..

Job interviews are always fun. I just went through three interviews for a promotion I'm gunning for. The first two were extremely technical: the first one was about an hour long and focused specifically on bladeservers. The second was an hour and a half long and covered all other server platforms. Most difficult job interview I've ever been through. 8 people applied, and only 2 made it past the second interview -- I was one of those two. The third interview was on Monday and was only 30 minutes with the manager I'd be reporting to + one of her colleagues. I spent all day Friday and a good part of the day Sunday studying up for that; I even went into work early for a mock interview the day of that third interview.

Nice man! I don't think I could handle interviews like that. Keep gunning bro! I hope you get it! If you're working as hard as it sounds then you deserve it. I dunno how hard the other person going for the promotion is working, but you seem motivated and hard at work and they should take the early arrival and mock interview into concideration as well to show you really want it.

Mine wasn't very hard really. It was about 20 minutes, maybe a little bit longer. My interviewer said about 150 people applied for the position, but only 25 got good references. Out of those 25 people only 18 showed up. There's 3 open positions and I noticed a lot of the other applicants F*CKING up big time(because it was in an open room.) One of the applicants was stupid enough to say he gets into a lot of fights with stuborn customers(wich garbage truck drivers deal with a lot.) Only about 4 of the other applicants seemed like they could possibly get the job but most of there experience were in fields were there was no repetitive lifting of heavy object(wich is what ALL of my experience is.) I was the 10th person so I had time to hear what the questions were gonna be like, and plan a little bit easier. From the interviewers actions and facial expressions he seemed very impressed actually. He told me my experience and my personallity/attitude makes me highly qualified and that he was refering me to the manager at there nearest location(only said that because he is the regional manager so he doesn't work in the location the openings are at.) So i'm thinking I might get it . There is always that chance that I won't so I won't be to disapointed if I don't, but i'de be greatfull to actually get a good job like this with career opportunities. I've been hard at work lately trying to find a good carrer path I could enjoy and hopefully it all pays off here. I've always enjoyed hard work(as weird as it sounds,) so this seems like the perfect option for me. Plus I love diesel trucks :) So i'de love to drive a big one haha.

They are helping him get his Commercial Driver's License. That and experience can leave the door open for numerous driving positions, some of which pay quite a bit.

Exactly! Thankyou Apex! They pay for you to get it, also has full benefits(name a benefit and they probably have it after 90 days.) Like life insirance,401K, health insurance, dental, payed holidays anything. They also pay $14+ per hour just for being a trainee. The pay bumps quite a bit once you have your CDL and they give you your own route. The managers are great people that look out and care for there employees as individuals not a whole. Plus when i'm not working I can go to the union office and they will provide temp work until work picks up again. What kind of person wouldn't wanna make a career out of something like that ya know ? I mean unlike most lazy Americans today, I was raised in a family that worked hard for what they have and it rubbed off on me. I'm one of the few that can say I actually like to work hard. It's satisfying and keeps me healthy. I can't handle a desk job, i'm a kynesthetic learner, meaning I learn hands on. WAY to much energry to sit behind a desk. Plus from what the Regional Manager also informed me of today, some of the temp work you can get can also help you get into other industries like Diesel. I've always wanted to learn things like that. I've got a certificate for 2 years in Diesel Tech at the clark county skills center. So that will take quite a bit of time off of college. Shit the list just goes on and on. Union jobs are good career makers!
