I was on the server a few minutes ago and AstrosBudSmoka was using some fairly obvious speed hacks...I have seen this and other suspect behavior (possible aimbottting and walling) before from some other n00b and non-n00b players as well.

I usually don't complain about it unless its completely obvious like the blatant speed hack because to tell you the truth I am an average player at best so I am not one to question other player's skills.

One of the admins made the comment that hacks are allowed on the server, but I could not really tell if he was being serious. Is this true?

If so I am sorry, but that is just ultimately lame.

Not quite a definitve answer. It's a simple question...are hacks allowed or are they not?

Plain and simple: No. If you try to hack in our server, you will be permanently removed.

If you saw someone say hacks were allowed, they were just joking around. If anyone is found hacking, they are permanently banned regardless of whether they are n00bs or even high level admins.

The best thing to do if you suspect a n00b member of cheating is to record a demo of it (open console, type status and note the person's name and Steamid. Then type "record demoname" without the quotes and once you are done recording, just disconnect. Send that demo to elders@n00bfest.com and they will take care of the rest.

Occasionally you might see someone with "noclip" enabled - zooming through the map by walking through walls and with unlimited health. This is done by some admins when teams are heavily imbalanced to let the losing team win a bit. Maybe you mistook one of those sessions for hacks.

Make sure you e-mail the elders about this so called "Astros". They will make sure he gets dealt with.
I saw him go like 10-0 once, so I'm on your side man, he's a hacker for sure.

You can take one look at my stats page and see that I don't hack...or if I do then I am the worst hack in the CS universe.

The situation was in reference to a player [n00b]AstrosBudSmoka who was blatantly speed hacking and knifing people. It was not a noclip because he was getting hung up on barrels and other objects when he ran into them.

Another player asked if what he was doing was allowed and an admin said that yes it was because hacks were allowed on the server. I asked him to clarify if that was the case because if it was then I was done playing on the server. He said yes it was but just don't get caught, at which point I said that it is incredibly lame to condone cheats so he blinded me the next round and I logged off and made the post on the forum.

No need to laugh, if you actually read my original post it is quite clear I was not asking if it was ok for me to hack. I just wanted to know if it what the admin said was correct because if it was then n00b servers are not for me.

anyways, yes we were F*CKIN with you when you asked if cheats were allowed. If you've played here for very long, you'd know that we F*CKING despise cheaters. We've banned very good friends, as well as random people, who come in and cheat. Many of us are "experts" at spotting them, and many are working on getting good at it (myself included).

we ban cheaters, mic spammers, team killers, server crashers, etc. Why? because we are trying to keep it fun.

what we also do? we try to keep a fair balance on the teams. what you saw was one method that higher level admins will do to balance things out. a high level admin turned Astros into "noclip" mode, which allows him to zoom all over the map without dying, thru floors, even thru barrels! and knife or shoot people at his leisure. This is one step towards evening out the round score.

So no, you didn't witness a speed hack, you were mistaken in saying that he was getting hung up on objects, and thank you for the report of suspicion of hacking. We take them very seriously, but this wasn't one of them.

Keep playing our server and you'll see what I'm talking about-- and you'll also get the "flavor" of the culture, which is very loose (why we fucked with you)- yet un-fucking-tolerant of hackers.

Thanks again for the clarification...was not sure if the admin was being serious, glad to hear he wasn't because even though I kind of suck right now I do like the server but I despise hacks and cheats. :)

I used to be pretty good at CS, but I kind of stopped playing after my old clan (Zero Tolerance) folded a few years ago...they were CS 1.6 but I played alot of Source at the time as well. ZT was all about fair play and as the name implies no tolerance for hacks, cheats and bad behavior online.

Started playing CS back in the old days before Steam existed and Won ID's were the unique identifiers for online play. I actually did some work on a server plugin to identify speed hacks, no recoil, and aimbots using step distance and shot dispersion analysis before VAC came along. These days the code I write is less fun, but it pays the bills. :)

Also the more you play the more you'll find yourself irritated at Astros as he walks all over you lol. I havne't been playing here for more than 2 months, but i'm gettin the idea of how it all works. It's a fun community and a lot of really good players as well. You're just lucky State wasn't around to give owning lessons as well.

State's hacks coincide with the full moon for whatever reason. So those are the only nights that he plays.

State comes in for 20 minutes, rapes faces, then leaves for another 2 weeks.
