Post Re: Get it all done before March 30th...
my head hurts from reading all your guy's damn links

As far as i'm concerned there are a few outcomes

1. It will fail and nothing spectacular will happen
2. It will fail and shit goes boom
3. I will get laid (same probability as the math number above stated by Gman)
4. It will rip ass in the space time continue-um and blow the shit out of everything
5. It will rip ass opening a portal to another spacetime continue-um and half life becomes a reality/ or to another place in the universe
6. OR we profit from the things we learn and shit turns star wars...

I believe it was already said before how doing this kind of research would benefit us, but in ellaboration, We've already learned about the first quantum computers, Harvesting something like dark matter isn't an interest of ours, so knock that off the list.

Why? Think about it. Why harvest something like dark matter when we can learn of better ways to harvest things readily and almost always available to us like the sun? It simply isn't in our best interest.

Also, you are getting confused between matter and energy when you say that matter cannot be created or destroyed. Though matter can be destroyed, particles and all (black hole) energy is something that cannot be destroyed. It is converted to another form of energy. Think about it like a cigarette. Cigarettes come in a solid form of energy (tobacco). When you smoke the tobacco, the energy from the tobacco turns into smoke energy. Another great example is steam. Water heats up, turns into a steam energy, and powers motors, and then is reconverted back into liquid energy.

Also, I regret to remind you all that lazers DO NOT make sounds in space. I'm really F*CKING bummed about that.

The end of the world will not be spectacular, but seeing advancements in particle acceleration and collision will, and I'll be following it closely. Everything about science amazes me.

wait a min, so how do you know a black hole destroys matter? and burning a cigarette doesn't destroy the matter of the cigarette either; it's just turned into a different form, some of which is smoke that floats through the atmosphere as barely visable particles. i don't want to get in a pointless debate here, cause really we are both saying the same thing. matter = energy

There are more now, but basically it's not very far-fetched anymore.
I also think that the test that they'll be conducting, originally wasn't meant for big-bang. I believe it was meant more for finding the Higgs Boson particle. It's basically the particle that gives other particles mass. They hoped that when slamming particles together, they would be able to detect the presence of the Higgs Boson, but learn more about expansion of the universe (big bang) through dark matter. They felt it would probably be detectable as well. Another addition to the microscopic black holes being created is that the black holes will "be so small that in a year's time, one black hole will only devour about 100 protons".

If you really want to learn more about this, Season four of The Universe actually discusses this very topic!

I have all four seasons so far, and I've enjoyed every bit of information I've learned thus far. It's helped me understand what to look for in the sky when using my telescope, and help me remember that science is everything to me.

This thing is amazing! Everybody worries about it opening up a black hole WAY to much. I mean when and if it happens, do you really think your opinion matters? They're trying to discover what started earth and are willing to end it as a consiquence.

I have one question for everyone here. It might just be a cuincidence but they say our past predicts our future and once I got sucked off by a black hole and now I stand a chance of getting sucked into one!(<-- haha ya I came up with that.) And before the test of the first atomic bomb theorist said it was going to ignite the whole atmosphere and end the world(wich they aren't exactly wrong because just because it didn't happen then doesn't mean it still cant. Meaning nuclear warfare may ignite the atmosphere and kill everyone.) There are plenty of things that COULD happen but it's not in your hands so quit worrying about it. They didn't spend billions on the damn thing just to stop because of theories. So quit wqorrying about it. If we die from it we wont know. So my question is what's the big deal?

So you all worry to damn much lol
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100330/ap_ ... ng_machine

It happen they fixed it worked it and now its working properly and well im glad cause they can figure shit out now alot more than they have been previously and when all the smart physic's and quant people get done decrypting the data we will hopefully get some good results for industry and even for other science fields like biology/ecology/Synthetic biology and even medical fields. I havent followed it closely cause well i hate chemistry and physics and shit but i think its a great thing what they've so far accomplished so hopefully we will see some good results soon and ill have to start reading over the papers they produce.
