HELL F*CKING yes. This sounds F*CKING BADASS. I was jamming to that riff you showed me last night and I have to say: LOTS of potential. I think you should record it to a track and send me what you complete and let me have a go with the runs. Maybe it'll give you insight to what you may want to write next in it. Its an excellent base for a minor/dorian scalar run and its also really good for putting some minor arpeggios in. Of course, everything will sound better harmonized, as you've demonstrated.

Acid I ride BMX ameteur professionally and have been looking for a good song to use in a web video for myself. Is there any way I could use this for my part. I have been looking for something that sounds like it will be heavy but not to heavy ya know? I've never heard something so perfect. I just want to use the instrumental, so if you planned on putting lyrics into it i'de hope to be able to use just the instrumental. The video would just be a web video so no money in it. But in the BMX community here in the northwest I am not large persay, just have made a good name for myself over the 9 years I have spent doing it. It would be posted on the main page of the 2 biggest BMX sites in the US and one very large Northwest located site. I hope you say yes and I can use this, i'de just have to have you e-mail me the file so I could use it to edit. I wont be doing anything to your song at all, other than cutting off the end and maybe part of the beggining because it is very hard to have enough footage for this long of a song. Eventually... in a year or two, I'll be able to record every song that I did when I was in First Sun. Our band split due to pathetic pussies who didn't want to show up for shows. Since then, I've done everything myself.

your progression is very standard open E ride, D to E, then D to C, that formula was laid waste by iron maiden in the 80's man, cmon.

while i appreciate your enthusiasim, the musician in me has to call you on the creativity issue.

There's absolutely, positively nothing wrong with re-using a chord progression for a new song. Arguably, most chord progressions (caveat: pleasing to the ear and within a relatively short pattern) have already been discovered and exploited in music SOMEHOW. To set out with a goal of not copying one is unrealistic and even delusional.

there are only so many intervls in a scale, and only so many notes on the fret board. and yea you are right it has all been done before.

i am not saying he sucks at guitar, i am saying that his song has elements that have been done before, rework it and make it your own.
