Hey everyone,

So I got a story, this happened just this past Saturday. I am in a metal band and play synthesizers, samplers, and do secondary vocals. This past Saturday we got the opportunity to play at the Opera House in Toronto. Its probably one of the 3 biggest venues in Toronto, besides the stadiums which haven't hosted a decent band in years, and the park where the festivals happen when they DON'T turf the Canadian date.

The Opera House has hosted bands such as GWAR, Rage against the Machine, Nirvana, Devil Driver, Murderdolls, Behemoth, Cannibal Corpse, Deftones, Manson, Static-X, and a few hundred others to boot.

We were also given the opportunity to be the headlining band, and were also asked to lengthen our set due to a no show. We are still an emerging band and our fan base is just in a preliminary growing stage, we just hired a web developer, have two photographers, a videographer, and have studio time booked.

The show was set to be an independant showcase for 4 record labels. Roadrunner, Universal, Underground, and Sony. It showcased 8 bands including us, everything from punk to jazz to us, industrial death/goth/neu/thrash lol. There were 600 people there, though we only brought about 30 ourselves as we had just played a show the previous night and two the weekend before.

Everything was going well, a few of the bands were totally lame as F*CK, a couple were good at what they do, and the rest were just generic radio friendly 'i love my girlfriend', girl pant, smurf hat, scarf wearing HOMOSEXUAL bands.

We were nice enough to let the other bands use our Joey signature LE 8-piece pearl kit (which most bands used about 3-pieces of, as is the going faggotyness lately), and diligently and respectfully waited for our set to come up. Everything was going well like I said there were about 600 people there.

WELL.....

The 'band' just before us happened to be some nig nog bitch and her DJ boyfriend (DJ had some skill). The c*** was doing some solo half hip hop half emo slut bullshit, singing over a pre-recorded vocal track that she couldn't even sync with even though it was her own F*CKING track, and sang about '16 year old'...WTF..... It was SOOOO LAME that about 500 people cleared RIGHT THE F*CK out of the place, leaving only her spear chucking friends, a couple bands that stuck around and the people we brought. By the time we finished our set, the house was completely empty aside from the people we brought and the bands that stuck around, and the label reps now half in the bag. Needless to say I WAS MIGHTY PISSED OFF at that stupid hoe. But that wasn't even the worst of it.

During load-in at the beginning of the night, the promoter talked to us about being respectful and not going to talk to the reps while another band was playing. Disrespectful to the reps trying to listen to the band and disrespectful to the band playing. It sucked that most people had left, but what sucked even more was that the AFRICAN AMERICAN went upstairs immediately after her set to talk to the reps, and when we finished our set and went upstairs the dumb bitch was still talking to the reps, arguing with them to sign her saying 'come on guys you know you wanna work with me, you know you wanna work with me'.

Needless to say, I wanted to slit her throat, pull her intestines out of the neck wound, gouge out her eyes with a rusty coat hanger, and skull F*CK her. Disrespectful, greedy little porch monkey

O well man life's a bitch have to take the good with the bad and don't let the good part find out about what the bad part did to people that F*CK with you. Oh shit, I know about the Opera House. Do you live in Toronto?! Anyways, other than that bitch being a cunt bag, that must have been pretty nice to play there.
Hope it went well regardless of that bitch and her stupidity.

I live about 45 minutes from Toronto. Yeah it was pretty awesome regardless, just being able to play on that stage, and we still got contacts for various labels, so that night wasn't a complete write off ^.^

Its cool to see some interest :P I won't post our website yet, we have some REALLY shitty recordings on there that will be replaced with some live recordings from the Opera House show... Unfortunately the sound tech was eating chips rather than doing his job, so even the live recordings sound like a bag of wet ass. Vocals are tinny, the drum levels are absolutely FUCKED and the synth and samples are almost inaudible. Even still they will be better than the ones up there now.

Some good news though, I just found out from our guitarist that the label reps were talking to the promoter of the show, and we were given some recording time at a studio in Toronto. We have about 7 gigs in the next month and a half so we wont be recording for a couple months, but at least then we will have something decent to put out.

Regardless, I will post our website when the Live recordings are up.
