Post Jazz.
Anyone else a jazz fanatic? If so, what kind of jazz and what artists? Do you play jazz yourself?

I've been playing guitar for like 8 years, but for the last 2 years, I've been studying jazz. Personally, I'm a huge jazz fusion fan, but I equally appreciate the jazz standards. My tastes range all the way from guitarists like Pat Metheny, George Benson, Joe Pass, Larry Carlton, Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Django Reinhardt, and Robert Conte, to other artists like Charlie Parker, Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and John Coltrane to groups like Steely Dan (God bless becker and fagen) and Jaga Jazzist.

In reality, there are way too many jazz tunes and musicians that I like to name, so you guys fill in the gaps with your favorites and tastes.

I'd be surprised if more than a few n00bs listened to jazz. I like it enough to listen to it when I have the chance but at the same time I couldn't name more than a few jazz musicians. I used to play saxophone as a kid, I wish I would have stuck with it, I absolutely love listening to saxophone solos.

Then you'd love Charlie Parker, John Coltrane and Horace Silver.

I covered Take 5 about a year ago on guitar with a small jazz ensemble. Its an easy yet satisfying progression to solo over. Dave Brubeck made truly great music. "On Green Dolphin Street" by Bronislau Kaper is another one of those latin/swing hybrids that get my dick hard.

John Coltrane (one of my favorite jazz musicians) on sax covering it. For some reason, they leave out the latin beats throughout the song and use only the swing sections. Its still good:
