Just wanted to know, what are your opinions on the M249 Squad Automatic Weapon? Like the look and sound, but I swear that gun makes me walk a tad slower and deals wussy damage (my opinion however, just wanted to know your opinions). Kthx

yes, due to the fact that it's a heavy weapon and CS:S attempting to simulate RL weapons and movements, it's gonna slow you down. Compared to DoD:S it does very little damage. If it was any more powerful, the game would completely blow.

first shot is extremely accurate with it though. So if you've got deadly aim, you can be quite deadly with it.

I have no problems ripping down a crowd with an M249

I have the skin changed on that to a Vulcan Canoon, like the one Jesse Ventura used in the Predetor movie. You definitely know when someone is using that gun from the sound when you play.

People who know anything about firearms at all call it a SAW.

"Para" is short for "parabellum," which comes from the term "para bellum" -- which is latin for "prepare for war." Para is a swanky name that the Germans gave to some of their handgun rounds (9mm, etc).

I have no idea why the M249 is called the "Para" in source. It shoots a 5.56mm NATO round (very similar to .223 rem) -- the same round as the M4A1 and Scout use. It doesn't fire a para round.

Then again, if I wanted to bitch about the lack of realism in the weapons in source, I'd talk about how the default C*CK animation for the M4 depicts the model pulling the forward assist button instead of the C*CK slide... which makes no sense whatsoever. Oh, and the dust cover for the breech that flaps back up every time a round is expelled? Yeah, that doesn't happen in real life. It's spring loaded so it stays open after the first shot. It only closes if you take your pretty little hand and snap it shut.

The game was done by nerds who have no military training at all, I know this because I used to be one of those game nerds. Then again look at America's Army, designed by people in the military and the game is still incredibly flawed and not fun. CSS is flawed but hell it has what a lot of games don't have, FUN!

The M249 Squad Automatic Weapon is exactly what it sounds like.

Poor accuracy, mediocre damage. You pop around a corner with it, do equal damage to every mother F*CKER in the hall while your team mops them up. Teamwork - basically the gun sucks.

tried to take a pic of my 9mm to show the parabellum but couldnt get a good pic, can prolly find a pic online though its a astra 600/43. The date stamped is 1908.

Since we are talking about Source guns,and this has nothing to do with the subject really...but back in 1.6 when using the m4 with the silencer on it seemed to help with accuracy a bit(is this right or not?). Can the same be said about the gun in Source or does it not make a difference?
