When i went to best buy a couple weeks ago, and was talking to this dude about laptops. He told me some crap about before i pick up my laptop they can scan threw the computer and remove all the useless spyware and crap for like $60 before ive even done anything to the computer, with this being said

Does anybody know exactly what they are removing off the computer to make it so much better than it actually is out of the box?? Is what they are removing going to make a huge difference??

Dude its funny how you dont want to pay a monthly fee for playing an MMO and you want to pay 60 bucks to this F*CKING idiots to "scan" your computer, its lulzy.

But seriously, i mean, when you have the laptop from scratch, it runs pretty smooth, all depends on what are you going to install, what p2p apps you use, like limewire etc, so there NOT much of shit you can get rid off when the laptop its brand new, all you do depending on the O.S is remove some features like automatic downloads or installations or shit like that.

I walk into Best Buy and make the Geek Squad look stupid.

Just reformat it yourself and install your own anti-virus. That's all you need OTB

this is why best buy and the geek squad make me sick. they pray on people like yourself, grandmothers and people who they know really do not enough about computers, to get more money. you cant blame the person doing this, because its the company making them do it.

the "crap" hes talking about is bloatware. you see, when best buy buys a laptop from acer for example, they immediately want to make money off of it. so the whore it out to companies like norton, yahoo, microsoft and others who in turn load it up with endless ammounts of trial software and other shit you will never use. this software will run in the background, create popups, and just be a general pain in the ass untill you delete it. it also hogs up alot of resources, which is why your computer will not run at full capacity when you buy it. what would have been a $1500 computer has become a $700 computer because it has been anally raped by software companies. this can be a good thing if you know what youre doing. how ever, most people dont know what they are doing, and best buy capitalizes on this.

and in comes the geek squad.. for 60 bucks, they will 'optimize' your computer. or just pay some fool 10 bucks an hour to sit there and delete trial software. and the for another 200 bucks.. they will sell you a protection plan. how often does a computer go bad from factory? god people are sheep.

dont let these corporations take advantage of you. take the time to learn so you can defend yourself against the capitalist pig dogs.

You will not believe all the shit they stack on to the computer, I used to work at Future Shop (Canadian version of Best Buy) and we all had a laugh at all the shit the put on. Spend a few minutes and either format or just go in and uninstall all the trial stuff. I was lucky one of my best friends is the head tech so he set my system up for free when I bought a cheap open box deal. Then of course he renamed all my icons for fun, lol.
