 Wireless Routers?
Anyone using one and how do you like it for gaming?
Was thinking of going wireless but wanted some info from my fellow gamers if it is worth while.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
I share a house with an older sibling who sometimes uses her work laptop at home and I want one so I don't have to run cables all over the upstairs. My living room is in the basement and I want to run a computer down there when I buy a new T.V. in the new year. So with the router being on the second floor and my t.v. and maybe a PS3 in the basement and two computers in my room I thought F*CK it go wireless.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
When my dad isn't torrenting shitloads of files off our connection my wireless router works fine. Otherwise I'm usually stuck "borrowing" another person's wireless connection, and for the most part that works okay, till they start dling shit too . As Casey said, wired is always better, but if you can't use a wired connection, then wireless can work.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
I got a Linksys wireless router (I don't have the model number on me) on sale for 40 bucks at best buy for my grandmothers house....I love it, my ping is averaging at 74 it will have a spike maybe once every so often going up to 90 or so but than it goes down again. Even on a college wireless router (small scale one, not the big motherfuckers) that hosts I'm going to guess maybe 5 or so on that one router I get a ping of 125 at best which is good for the AFRICAN AMERICAN down the hall to be streaming shit from myspace, friend next door downloading from zune, its good.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
Ya, I have to go with Linksys cause for some reason my sisters laptop will not recognize the Dlink. I don't know why but I have to run a linksys switch off the dlink router for her to get a connection.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
wired, faster, more reliable. Sometimes the difference may not be visible but it's there. I have a wireless Netgear router. It sucks ass...a lot of ass. Least for me, everyone else in my house is fine....assholes.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
A lot of the ps3 network errors stem from the psn. I get randomly signed off sometimes but still have a 90% plus connection with my router. The psn still needs a good bit of work.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
If you're going wireless;
-Make sure you know the gHz of the router, sometimes wireless land phones can interrupt the signal. -The new n routers are ridiculously fast, and have a stronger signal on the fringes of the signal. -Before you buy it make sure you can place it in a central location to the house (or a central location to your gaming/internet usage) so that you get the best signal everywhere. -If you want good performance be ready to drop some $$$.
I'll look up the one my dad bought at his beach house. It split me and him running games, while my mother and brother were on the internet pretty well.

 Re: Wireless Routers?
There's a .cmd file you would have to make unless you want it to lag every 60 seconds on the 60 seconds

 Re: Wireless Routers?
what you really want to keep in mind is how far away from the wireless router are you going to be? the further you are the weaker the signal is and ping will be higher.
link-sys, d-link are the best to go with if your on a cheap budget.
