Who all has it? Myself, das, Kano, f0`, 2 of Kano's friends all play together. I know Money, Sandman, and Luff have it as well. Just looking for more people to play with.

Re: DayZ
Yeah, I'd like to get into either rust or dayz but it would mean I'd have to choose. Need opinions!
True, Love, Sandie, and I all play DayZ and Rust. Rust is fun. But once you build a base. its like...what now?
DayZ is more interesting. For me at the moment DayZ is pretty boring too. I have shit and my character is looted out, but to get to that point was grueling. Checking every building and finding rotten food over and over. Starting as a fresh spawn is nothing like the mod. The mod items will still be there. In the Standalone you can search almost ever building around the shore and you'll be lucky to have enough shit to survive to get else where to do the same. Yeah, its realistic. But it's almost at the point where it's too realistic that it isn't fun. The only thing that keeps it bearable is playing with people you know. I know it's in alpha and everything. But some of the older Arma II mods were more enjoyable than the standalone at the moment.
Main problem for me in a nutshell is the spawning of loot. I don't care about guns, that's great if you can't find guns. But at least hook me up with a soda every 20 houses or so.
Overall both Rust and DayZ have really good potential. The PvP in rust is nice because its a little smoother IMO and DayZ is DayZ. Everyone knows it by its name. The $19 for Rust & $29 for DayZ was worth it. But don't expect a completely polished game.

Seems you play on maxed servers that have been looted out. If the door is open on every house in every town change to a lower populated server or one that has been freshly restarted. Every house that is able to have items spawn in it usually has something.

I have day z stand alone and the mod. I play the mod because there's a little bit more development on it atm. I dont have rust though and I have heard the same thing about it being boring.

I know how the spawning of loot works, I just don't like the way it works.. I just preferred the spawning system in the mod, It made starting off much less difficult!

It's because loot is bugged once you loot it, it doesn't respawn until the server restarts/crashes. If the server stays up long enough there could literally be nothing on the shore. On top of the fact that some of the houses never spawn anything (one being the one that rocket showed off in one of his dev blogs where loot spawns on top tables, under beds, etc.) and the big ass apartment building almost never spawn anything.

Re: DayZ
Never been a fan of all the bugs in DayZ. Isn't that game just the same shitty game ported to the new Arma engine?
Played through Rust and felt the same way Mossy described. Just stole stuff from people and then was like "what now?"
If you ask me, I'm waiting on Seven Days to Die to hit beta. I already own it, but I think it holds some promise and I don't want to burn myself out or feel like it's not worth trying anymore when I experience the alpha play.
I too own 7 Days to Die. Sandie and I just played for a good 3-4 hours. It's probably my favorite out of all 3. You can play for forever. It actually gets very hard. The customization is pretty nice as well. The amount of money they have to work with is a nice upside too.

Re: DayZ
So... as far as a dedicated server, what do you think would get the most use and generate the most traffic to the website for new members?
DayZ Rust 7 Days to Die
I'm pretty sure running a Rust server would be easy 'cause I think it's a source engine game. I don't know about DayZ. The mod can't run in Linux without a GUI and I'm not installing a GUI on our dedi. If DayZ's standalone server can run in Linux then I can spin one up.

Dayz would bring in the most traffic since it's the most popular by far from the 3 games. I'm not sure what you can do with a dayz server atm though like, I don't even think you can advertise anything besides the server name. If someone random person joins the server there is no way to let him know he is playing in a n00bfest server besides like i said earlier the server name which you only see when you first join.
Rust would probably be the best bet since it's decently popular and it's a source engine. You can set up some message that plays in the server every 10 min like check out n00bfest.com our teamspeak is blah come join. Admin commands are also a lot easier in rust if I remember right the dayz admin shit is complicated as hell.
7 days to die is kinda eh right now. Ya there is death match mode but the pvp in the game is not the best and everyone wants to do normal survival. The thing is with doing a normal survival server not only is it a set map (unlike minecraft where it generates as you travel) so all the loot would eventually be gone but, the zombies get stronger by each passing day. If you left the server on for say a week and someone new joins not only would there be nothing to loot (loot doesn't respawn) but they would get destoryed by super zombies that melt blocks.
I would love at dayz server but, at the moment, to bring in new members your best bet is probably rust.

Re: DayZ
-Day Z seems more popular atm and in the long run will bring bigger crowds. The features that will be released during 2014 will countinue to grow its poularity. -Rust is a more finished game atm, but once Day Z implements its crafting, vehicles, and other features I expect it to easily pass Rust. -7 days to die looks fun but i have not played it before.
So between Day z and Rust I pick day Z

I don't know about the other 2, but with DayZ there isn't very much with admin you can do except a global talk from the admin, restarting the server, and a very limited MOTD. Although with the limited MOTD you can have several lines that you can direct people to the website and TeamSpeak. I've joined other DayZ communites TS while playing on their server and if you can advertise that your server is 24/7 daytime with a relatively short restart cycle of an hour or 2, people will join and use the server.
