Well, winter is here and it's cold as shit in Montreal. I love this city and I love Canada, but I feel like the cold, 6 month winters and lack of sunlight during the winter is killing me slowly inside (lol). I think in the next 3-5 years I'd like to move somewhere warmer, probably in the US. So, n00bfest, I come to you today for advice. If you could move to any state in the US, which one would you choose and why? Keep in mind I'm an active person and enjoy nature (camping, hunting, cycling etc) so being able to easily partake in sports or outdoor activities would be a big plus.

Edit: also texas if you want decent weather year round and awesome food. Humidity is an issue if youre not used to it.

Texas has all of those things and you get a brief winter to "feel like home". AND it's more affordable than Florida or California. :)

Flame all you want but Utah is one of the top spot in the country for anything outdoors. Easy access to a lot of national parks a ton of canyons and mountains for hiking and camping. If you enjoy guns the concealed carry permit you get in Utah is one of the most widely recognized in the country. So not a terrible place if you ask me.

Texas doesn't allow Canucks.

You really can probably throw a dart at most places in the US and find somewhere that would be fun.
Are you looking for more of a metropolitan atmosphere or smaller city/rural life style?

I say go somewhere all four seasons are equal in length, low cost of living but generally nice place to live. Somewhere outdoor activities aren't incredibly far from the Night Life. Professional Sports teams could be a plus for you. Big city with lots of rural areas close by. World Class theme park, Multiple College campuses in case you decide to attend or just crash some parties. Culturally expansive list of restaurants. If all of this has peaked your interest you might be looking at the city of flying pigs, porkopolis, the queencity, Cincinnati Ohio.

Hey now, there are local AHL teams. We have the Texas Stars here in Austin/Cedar Park. I've even been to a game. For such a gay sport, it was pretty rad.

Yeah F*CK Florida, I enjoy having seasons and although it would be fun at first, I'm not sure I'd want one season all year round.

Texas sounds fun, I only hear good things about Austin.

I guess the rural vs. city living question would depend on my job situation at that point in time. I wouldn't mind a suburb close to a metropolitan city with lots of things to do, it would be the best of both worlds. For people living in Texas, how is the job market? And housing?

And for those of you calling me a pu$$y....F*CK you! I can endure the winters, but I just don't see the point of ''sticking it out'' just for the hell of it. I don't have kids, a mortgage or anything really tying me down here so I figure I mind as well enjoy that relative freedom while I'm young. Canada will always be home though.

I agree with honestly, Utah is great for outdoors stuff, and you get all four seasons. The big exception is all the mormies. They F*CKING run that place tight. If you aren't Mormon, you are an outcast.

So, go to Colorado. Similar to Utah with the mountains, 4 seasons, outdoors stuff, but more diverse culture and more fun. Plus, they got all the professional sports teams if you're into that. And downtown Denver is a bad ass place to party. I went to college just outside of Denver, and I F*CKING miss that place like crazy.
