The classes are also something you wanted to take instead of something the university has forced you to take. Yes the classes are harder and have more impact on your life, but they are more interesting and easier to do well in.

Yes the classes are harder and have more impact on your life, but they are more interesting and easier to do well in. both of you are right. whether or not your professor cares if you pass is entirely dependent upon the professor. i had both types all throughout college. it is also dependent upon the college you attend. my school seemed to have a higher concentration of the types of professors that tried to fail the entire class. i had a professor that would review with us for a test, but not give us representative questions that we would see on the exams. in fact one time he said, "i could ask you a problem like 'blah blah blah', but now i won't have that type of problem on the exam because we just covered it." it was crazy because he was the nicest guy, but just seemed like he wanted us to learn everything by reading the text. i also had a "geology" professor who would not answer certain (most) questions during class. instead he would just stare at the person who asked the question like they were the biggest idiot in the world, then continue lecturing. i took it again later with another professor who wasn't a dick.

 Re: College Sucks.
I think that most "bad" professors assume that since you are actually paying for an education, you're probably gonna try to do well, go to class, study and learn more on your own, etc.
I've found that the professors who teach my major classes really emphasize this. Many of them never end class early and one of them has a realllllly heavy courseload. He said he wanted to make sure that we "get our money's worth," lol.
But, if it's just a retarded Gen. Ed. class that the college wants you to take, I don't think that you're inclined to do as well. Probably a psychological kind of thing. I mean, if the class doesn't really apply to what you're majoring in, why bother? Most of those professors know that most people only take it to fill a requirement, so they're probably pretty apathetic, too.

 Re: College Sucks.
Good shit, Jaime. Hopefully I'll be at a school like that by this time next year.
I know at my current university, they expect full effort in every class... ESPECIALLY the lab sciences. Only another 2 semesters and I'll be done with my cores.

 Re: College Sucks.
LOL. Oh I was there my freshman year, birdy, and it fucked my scholarship options all up (the HOPE scholarship requires a 3.0 GPA once you hit the 30 ATTEMPTED hours mark, not the 30 earned hours mark. By the time I earned 30 semester hours, I was already at 42 attempted hours (I dropped a few classes freshman year because I was F*CKING around, getting stoned every waking hour and just basically not making school my top priority). Now that I'm on track, nothing is gonna stop me.
