 Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
I signed up for this free software program through a class I'm taking, and there's a bulletin from yesterday saying Windows 7 is available... Proofs for you's guys P.S. - Pretty sure my roommates are making man-love right now :(. P.S.S. - OK, thought other roommate was out...lights are now on and another dude is talking. Originally suspected roommates still have gay potential...

 Re: Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
Is it worth it? I've heard it's like ten times better than Vista (for those like me who like Vista, at least).

 Re: Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
Well, My input - It rocks. Programs, Games, etc, Run smoother with it I personally think Graphic Wise - Even with Aero, Games run 5x smoother with 7, atleast I think so. As of build 7600, It's running wonderful, Gaming, compiling, regular programs for every day use, Never have any issues. 2.8GHz Dual Core 3GB of Ram 8400GS Gfx Card (Upgrading to 9400GT) 120GB HD 500GB HD http://img245.imageshack.us/i/winz.png/http://img7.imageshack.us/i/watnousir.png/http://img24.imageshack.us/i/wutnou.png/Fixed lniks

one word: torrents. One word: GetLife. No not really, but I thought it sounded funny. What's 7 Ultimate -- sounds extreme. I just thought it was cool that I get legal access to all sorts of strange free shit. I can get 7, Vista, XP all business/professional versions, shitload of server developer software, visual, XNA Game Studio, etc. Maybe I'll try out 7 when I get a view days where I don't need my computer. Does 7 require any extra shit to install because I'm running Vista fine right now.

 Re: Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
not to my knowledge you don't need anything extra.
pretty sure it just upgrades right from vista, like xp to vista upgrade.

Are you enrolled in the MSDNAA? That's what I'd assume as the page layout you have above is similar (if not the same).
I'm enrolled as well as I'm a Computer Science and Engineering major. I've been running the RTM version of Windows 7 Professional for almost a month now. It's F*CKING awesome.

Uhh, Clear vista, Backup anything you need, then install win 7. otherwise extra Vista bullshit is left over. Vista blows. 7 Ftw.

I usually keep my game windowed when I'm in vent so I can see who's talking in the vent channel. Doing that hasn't given me issues. Next time I'll try it and see if it works.

I run Windows 7 and have been since the RC came out. It runs like Windows 2000 (awesome) and looks like vista (awesome).

 Re: Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
7's less (much less) of a ram hog than vista. And i love how it automatically finds most, if not all of the drivers.
I would say, it's nearly as stable and runs just as well as XP, but looks like vista and has some neat little gizmos. One little gizmo worth mention is if you have a bunch of separate windows open on the screen, and grab one with your mouse and give it a little shake, all the other windows minimize. kinda neat.

Nice, I'll probably upgrade this weekend. And yes, I'm enrolled in that MSDNAA. Signed up on the very last day this time, *phew*.

I'm running 4GB of DDR3 RAM and with Firefox, Winamp and Steam actively running I'm at 18% RAM usage. CPU core 1 is at 10% and CPU core 2 is at 2% Windows 7 is the best thing Microsoft ever did. However, I wish i could efficiently run a Linux box. That would be cool

 Re: Windows 7, Whatchall Heard?
If you run the free upgrade what happens when the full version comes out does it die or do you have to pay to keep it going? I have been looking forward to 7 for awhile, my buddy got a first hand tutorial from Microsoft since he sells the stuff and he said it was awsome.

Going to be installing to my desktop when I get around to it. Whats preventing you from running an efficient Linux box?
