Any air-cooled bike isn't worth the pricetag. With air-cooled engines, they're designed to operate at a wide temperature range, which means the machining has to be sloppy in order to account for the different metals expanding/contracting differently at a wider array of temperatures. With a water-cooled bike, everything is machined to a much tighter tolerance and you get much more performance for the size of the engine. My 750 with my big ass on it can still get me over 100mph, and it's torquey as a motherfucker -- it out-torques my buddys Honda VTX1300. Pure. F*CKING. Performance. It's so bad now that the die hard Harley crowd look down on the sportster riders and call them "skirtsters". Harley elitists have completely lost touch with what riding a motorcycle is all about and are too brainwashed to realize they are riding an inferior product.
What Gman said is spot on. Wanna know why Harley hasn't embraced the liquid-cooled V-twin? It won't sound like a Harley. |
