usb audio code 39

RockSteady Forum Newbie Joined: Tue Feb 15, 2011 7:54 pm Posts: 56	usb audio code 39 well my video card just fried today i put a new one in but.... my sound stopped working when my video card did i reinstalled the driver it says failed and it gives me error code 39 for it and when i click on speaker at the bottom nothing at all shows up for playback or recording devices did i fry my sound card too? _________________

(Code 39) Cause There are several causes of Code 39 errors: A required device driver is missing. A required binary file is corrupted. There is a problem with the file I/O process. A driver that is referencing an entry point in another binary file is unable to load. Recommended resolution Reinstall the drivers for this device. Uninstall and reinstall the driver Uninstall the driver from Device Manager, and then scan for new hardware to install the driver again. You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. Seeing as how you 'may' have followed this procedure properly and multiple attempts may have been made, it is important that you find out the information I requested at the top of this post. It's most likely AC HD which is basically what everything uses for Realtec audio these days. Try running this, and if it doesn't work, just uninstall: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dow ... Down=false Choose either Windows 32-bit or Windows 64-bit depending on which version of Windows you have. You can find that out by right-clicking on My Computer and left-clicking Properties. It'll say either "32-bit Operating System" or "64-bit Operating System". _________________

If trying the suggested method Kwang posted does not work, then here are a couple of other things you can do: Determine if it's a PCI device or onboard component. (Integrated on your motherboard.) If it's PCI, then determine the make and model, grab the driver from the manuf. website and try it. (which is what Kwang is providing.) If it's integrated, search the manufacturer of the motherboard's website. If it's an OEM system (purchased from best buy, walmart, insert local computer chain here) Then you'll want to go to the OEM manuf. website for the driver. Yes, the driver I gave you 'might' work for the chipset you're running because Realtek is generally an integrated audio chipset. To be fairly honest I've never once seen a "realtek" sound card, it's pretty much always on-board. But you should open up your computer case like Strange is indicating, and read around for pretty clear model number and brand name (usually printed in big white alphanumerics -letters and numbers-). If you don't feel like searching for this stuff online, post it here and one of us can do the in-depth research to get down to the nitty gritty. If your computer was made by a company like Dell, Lenovo or HP/Compaq there's usually a service number pretty conspicuously located on the outside of the case that you could punch into their website and get what you need. _________________
