Dumb question, but I dont know a bunch about SSD drives. I have an older mobo with sata connections. would this work or would I need to upgrade my stuff

SATA works with SATA II and SATA III drives but they'll just be a lot slower than they'd be on SATA II or SATA III compatible motherboards. Depending on the hard drive you may or may not have to switch a jumper on the drive to make it work with earlier SATA hardware.

Super fast retrieval of info. Even before I blew up my old 10k RPM drive still took about 90 seconds to boot. Would love to have one of these. Sadly my hardware is pretty old.

Seriously? From the moment you hit the power button to the moment the hard drive stops reading and has Windows 7 completely booted up in 30 seconds? Why don't I believe you.

My computer could load in about 30-45 seconds...when I first bought it and got it up and running. lol. Now it takes like a minute and a half.

I could never get my system under a minute unless it was factory fresh and nothing but the operating system loaded on it, with the non-SSD drive. After everything was installed it took over 3 minutes to load up fully. So unless you are running just an OS on startup and on 10,000 RPM HD's I doubt you are actually getting anything close to 30 seconds.

I probably won't get a reply in the next 3 hours, but does this look pretty good? I'm in the middle of trying to find parts to build a new PC for the first time and this seems pretty grand to me. I'll probably just wait till I can actually research some of this stuff, it took me like a week just to choose a processor and I'm still not sure on that!

Ya, that's what I meant by first got it up and running. I had nothing installed on it. Once I started installing the games and everything else the start up time just multiplied. 3 minutes seems a little long. Mine takes 1.5-2 still.

I love my SSD thanks to the noobs who helped me set it up its F*CKING sweet... Loke and a few others...

CPTReynolds, a good SSD is triple to quadruple minimum the read/write speed of a 10k rpm HDD.

too late now, but not that great of a brand, it's a hit or miss with ocz, better off waiting till ssd prices drop again, they had mad price drops not long ago on newegg, also even if your hardware is old, putting a ssd on it will make it pretty useful once again.

you won't notice that much real life speed differences between sata 2 and sata 3 ssd on your hardware. speaking from experience

actually its a 6month machine with a 10,000 rpm hd loads in 40 secs, but it has everything not just os. good call tho

Yeah I checked out a few reviews for it. Figured I was better off paying $30 extra than buying something on a whim. I'll have to keep a look out for that, thanks.

My Intel SSD is purty sweet, overall load times(OS, Games) on my older machine were increased dramatically.
