Those prices are all fair and you'd probably be hard-pressed to find them in a local store. That being said, get your hands on them in a local store and if you really like them, do the math.

Cost of gun at local store + tax = X
Cost of gun from buds + transfer fee = Y

Go with whichever is cheaper.

1911 gurus don't shoot $900 kimbers. My argument is that a lower-end kimber is NOT worth the price simply because you're paying for a brand name more than you're paying for a solid weapon. For the price of a $900 kimber, you could have a much better pistol if you started with a cheaper one.



While this is true, the bulk of my point is that low-end kimbers just flat-out aren't worth it. If you want a solid 1911 for under $1000, don't buy a kimber because you can accomplish the same thing or better for a hell of a lot cheaper.



Sig can blow me. The only Sig pistol I'd ever own is a P210. I hate Sig pistols so much. Their triggers are garbage, and I just flat-out don't like polymer-framed pistols... which is damned near everything they make. The P210, though, is one of the sexiest 9mm pistols ever made (right up there with the Browning Hi-Power and the CZ-75).

Actually, he is. I take him all of the time to shoot with me and my friends, several of which are Sig owners. He's actually shot a pretty good amount of Sigs... and several brands of 1911s. Luke alone has shot like 200 rounds through two different Sigs and enough rounds through the several 1911s to know how they operate. Sorry, had to pull the the defensive-big-brother card. Lulz. End of the day, its all opinion, anyway, right?

It's a .22. Don't buy a 1911 chambered in .22LR. If you want a .22LR pistol, buy a Ruger 22/45 or Browning Buckmark.

agreed slides on these types are too heavy and usualy can only shoot hyper velocity rounds like cci stingers and that kinda defeats the purpose os having a .22lr (cheap ammo) ruger marks are the best for the money.expecialy for a beginer

.22 is fantastic for learning to shoot, be it pistol or rifle.

Before I say anything else though, I'd like to say if you get the opportunity, go to a gun show and handle all of the guns you're considering before you sell yourself on any one particular gun. I've found several products I was in love with when I looked at them in the case, or online, and HATED the feel of them when they were finally in my hand.

That being said...
I wouldn't get a 1911 for my first gun. I LOVE 1911's, but I just don't think it's a beginner's gun. There are many more pistols out there using other technology that was fantastic and wont require A) putting a lot of money down on a well-built already complete build or B) buying parts, and more parts, to upgrade a basic platform to what you wanted it to be, but couldn't/wouldn't drop the money on at purchase. Granted, the experience can be rewarding working on upgrading your own gun, but if you're just looking for a fun gun that's rock solid, can be put in a holster/left in a safe place for protection, and can be used for plinking on the cheap... consider the CZ you mentioned before.

You can get the platform in a .40 or 9mm, If I remember correctly.

My brother has a CZ75 9mm compact that I shoot pretty regular and I love it. It's definitely on my radar for a next pistol purchase, though I wouldn't encourage you to consider CZ's polymer frames. I've yet to shoot one, but some of the forums I keep up with say they're not exactly living up to CZ's high-standing reputation.

Your existing CZ75 can be swapped to a .22 in a few short steps. You end up with a defense round and a training round in the same frame. Not only can you train cheap, but you train using the same platform you'd be defending yourself with... even better!

There are many other options out there, and I'd give my 2 cents on them, but I was just referencing your most recent post and the platforms listed within said post. I don't really like revolvers. No particular reason other than personal reference, so I'm not going to speak on something I have no real experience with. The people I know that have revolvers tend to love them. I couldn't sell myself on one except maybe that chiappa rhino (http://chiappafirearms.com/product/727).. and that's only because it's a strange setup and reminds me of Robocop.

The Ruger .22's are awesome, but I'd just as soon do the CZ75 and get the Kadet kit for reasons listed above. If I decided against the CZ75 and went with another platform, then yeh I'd pick up a full-time .22, probably Browning or Buckmark. Walther makes a neat looking little .22 pistol that you might come across.. but the mag release isn't your typical release, which makes things odd for some people.. and it has its own issues. I've read somewhere before that it's being updated/replaced, I believe.

I might probably get the cz75 9mm and then get the kadet kit, would definitely be cheaper than having 2 separate guns (possibly?)

as for the 1911 i've kinda always wanted one, I know it's probably not ideal for a first gun but I like the look and feel of it. I've handed a few of the guns and been to a few gun shows, but I have yet to fire a few. Might go to a gun range or something and fire a few shots.
