 Re: DEVILSThe Red Wings were like the Yankee's they bought championships and not earned them. Now since the system got salary capped the Red Wings have not won a cup cause they can't just buy a team of allstars, they have to develope one and that's a learning curve they don't understand. Though they SUCK ASS, they are not as pethetic as my lowly Leafs. They have no F*CKING excuse for shitty performance.

Well I disagree from the stand point Yzerman, Lidstrom, Federov, Konstantinov, Probert, Silinger, Graves were all 1980's draft picks not to mention many more outstanding picks to come. Yes in the precap era our owner was capable of bringing names like Hull and Shanahan in but they were 1 or 2 pieces that put us over the top. You do not maintain 20+ playoff apperances with 5 stanley cup championships and 2 runner ups in 20 years by buying a team, and since the salary cap in 2006 we have still had 2 stanley cup playoff apperances with 1 win?????? I find your opinion lacking support. And I agree sutter would be a must have and would be a lock if we got Parise, but there are rumors of parise going to Minnesota |

Literally dozens of players have started and ended careers with this club. Star players take little to no salary to finish their careers with the wings in hopes of their name getting on the cup. Just for reference, in 2008 the Wings won the cup which was after the salary cap set after the lockout season. I love it when people compare the Red Wings to the Yankees, in fact I was waiting for someone to say it. |
