It was put on hiatus because NBC bases their decisions on Nielsen ratings, not online viewership. Community has one of the highest followings and rating wise it is a critical darling like Arrested Development was. Big Bang Theory just happens to have a lot of viewers that watch the show live, and feature just enough potty humor and dick jokes to keep the downys interested.

If you want to watch a great comedy, watch Community. It is by far one of the best shows out there.
