 New Phone
So I am looking to switch my cell phone carrier in the next month or so. I am currently using the motorola milestone xt720 and i'm looking to upgrade. I went to my local verizon store and narrowed it down to the motorola razr and the iphone 4s. I've never been keen on the iOS but i think I could tolerate it if i can be persuaded to switch. I'm not a fan of the iPhones lack of flash either, but im not sure if it is even necessary anymore now that HTML5 is so prevalant. However the moto razr has both. The downfall to the moto is, the size. Way too big, i dont need a 4 inch screen. Help me out guys, let me here your opinions.

 Re: New Phone
Samsung Galaxy S II apparently is competing with the iPhone 4S and they are saying that Samsung Galaxy S III is going to compete with iPhone 5. SGSIII is supposed to come out next month or so. I personally plan on replacing my shitty blackberry with it.

 Re: New Phone
Apple > Motorola for sure. Just depends on what you're going to use the phone for though. No matter what, if I was in your situation I would get the iPhone hands down, no questions asked. No comparison.
iPhone 5 will be out soon as well. Just wait for it.

 Re: New Phone
Im on a plan with my dad at the moment. He's looking to switch around the 13th. I'll be buying a phone then, waiting is kinda out of the question. I'd like to wait but it's not likely to happen.

 Re: New Phone
I have an iPhone 3GS and I'm waiting for the iPhone 5 (which if you could wait till later this year I would but the 4S will last you for a long long) my experience with my phone is just amazing. It has been useful in countless events that other phones could not have handled. My phone has still keep up with all the new apps and hasn't been outdated just yet.
The continued support from apple with software updates have kept adding features to my phone when there's 2 generations ahead of me. It's last too. Ive dropped my phone countless times, breaking tens of cases yet my phone hasn't cracked or messed up. The quality is amazing.
As long as you always keep a case on your phone and a clear screen protector, you will have a long lasting phone my friend with an iPhone.
iPhone hands down. I'm navigating and post on this forum with my phone (and right now) no problems

Can you prove that other phones could not handle the events in question? I've literally raced to find information with someone running 4g. Not only are they running 4g compared to my 3g but this suggests that their phone also has high processing capability. somehow i still won. So this suggests that my 3 year old phone can still handle the situation. My current phone also excels at battery life. I do agree that android doesn't update software nearly as often as they should. Edit: btw does the iphone have the steam app?

 Re: New Phone
The newer the phones get, the more fragile they seem to be. I'm always worried about dropping them one to many times. With an iPhone I would worry less. My woman is a logistics manager for one of apples main suppliers of LCD panels for iPhones, and iPads. The quality is incomparable. They are the standard in the cell phone industry that everyone is trying so hard to beat for a reason. Because they're the best.

It's a large screen but super thin, and I feel like i'd snap it in half despite claims to being kevlar strong.

 Re: New Phone
I cracked my Iphone 3Gs screen. :( But it was only a two foot drop out of my pocket. I've dropped it down stairs and all sorts of good stuff, but if it lands flat on the screen pop. But that's what I get for not keeping it in my otter box. O and the otter box is the best cases made hands down. Without it my phone would be as dead as well dead can be.

It was probably one of the worst $209 investments I've ever made. I find it is extremely hard to play video games with a giant dick in your ass.

 Re: New Phone
I have a Droid razr maxx. I have yet to find an apple user that says they don't want my phone.
This thing shits on apple, and the galaxy in every possible way. All it's lacking is ICS which is coming out later this year. To caniboid, the gorilla glass is identical to the iPhone. The flaw with iPhones is their rigidity. They may feel strong in your hands, but they're also brittle. As soon as yield stress is exceeded, they fail. The 'kevlar' backing on this phone has a pretty significant yield stress, but it isn't brittle like the iPhone so it can take a much larger beating. That said, if you're stupid enough to break either of the two then there's really no way to prevent it.
Also, F*CK your battery life. I used this thing as a GPS for 5 hours straight with the screen on and it didn't drop below 50%.
Moral of the story is this: get the nexus if you absolutely can't wait for ICS and enjoy charging your phone every five hours. As it stands the razr maxx destroys every phone on the market, if not for it's ludicrous battery life then for it's slim design and quick response.
Tl;Dr F*CK every phone on the market that isn't the razr maxx because this thing is a beast.
Edit: insert comment about caniboid's obvious apple fanboyism. Trollin'

 Re: New Phone
i agree with hooker here, what good is your phone if you have to stay near an outlet because your battery dies constantly. the longer your phone can live the more you can do.
the only reason, only reason EVER, i would get an iphone is siri. it's like having a personal assistant in your pocket. other than that, F*CK the iphone

 Re: New Phone
If you're thinking about getting a Razr, definitely get the maxx. What I've read and what people say really does suggest it gets ~twice the battery life, so the battery life is only half as shitty (lol I know it's quite good)
I've seen a lot of complaints about the regular maxx battery. But those people probably play angry birds and listen to pandora while watching a movie and running navigation - no wonder the shit dies in 2 hours.
I had a dirty thought a few months ago and was really checking out the iPhone 4S for $199 - but I found doesn't have 4g capability on the Verizon network. Not like I really care, but I'd probably feel like I'm neutered so F*CK that.
I'll probably end up getting a regular Razr here soon but get a Razr maxx battery and cover to save a few bucks.

 Re: New Phone
I'm sure you've done research on changing the battery airman, but just in case you haven't, look it up and make sure you can do it. Cause I tried removing the battery before to reboot and it was a pain in the ass and I was afraid I'd break warranty.

 Re: New Phone
Having sold cell phones for 3+ years and having a ton of experience with both platforms I can honestly tell you that the tech in the iPhone (besides the screen which is the standard) is a year behind the times. The 4s is the phone they should have released 2 years ago and the 5 last year. On the 4 and newer phone the front and back are glass and are very fragile. I cant tell you how many times I have had customers come back with broken glass on front or back and get pissed when its $175 to fix when they paid $200 for the phone. On the plus side the iPhone runs incredibly smooth, partly because of the lack of true multitasking, and the UI is by far the easiest to use, I call it a dumb smartphone.
Android phones are typically on the cutting edge when it comes to tech. With Android you will get 4g connectivity if you use it or not the added bonus of more speed when you want it is a welcome addition. You have more form factors to choose from so you can pick a phone that you find aesthetically pleasing and you arent just stuck with one model. Most of the newer droids have gorilla glass installed, which isn't unbreakable but much more so than the screen on the iPhone. I demo the gorilla glass by banging on our demo phone with a heavy duty box cutter handle.
As far as apps go you will get that with both phones. With the iPhone (unless you jailbreak it) you will pay for 90% of your apps that arent you basic facebook, youtube, etc. The iPhone does have a larger selection of apps and more quality apps than Android. However, Android's app market is comparable to iOS but you will spend way less money on apps as most apps are free on Android. Easiest comparison I can give you is Angry Birds. All of the versions on iOS are $.99 unless you get the trial. All versions on Android are free. When I had my 3gs I spent over $150 on music and apps in a year. When I switched to Android I have spent less than $10 in 2.5 years and have probably downloaded more apps and music than ever before.
You will have a good phone either way, but my personal opinion is that Android is the better choice in the long run.

 Re: New Phone
If you absolutely need apple support, then go for the iphone, or wait for the iphone 5. Otherwise get an android.
It's so nice to see there are others who don't blindly worship apple.
