 Re: Great Beer!
I'm reviving this thread, sue me. There's that "everyone's favorite drink" thread but that applies to everything. This is the BEER thread goddammit. Here is my selection for this evening, my first evening having a beer in quite a long time: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/35/74530 Starts off with some gumption but sort-of fizzles out on the finish, as if you took the swallow 10 minutes rather than 10 seconds prior, and your mouth just has an added layer of warmth.

 Re: Great Beer!
We have a local bar in cincinnati that recently put dogfish head on tap. I dont remember the time but that shit was awesome. very different from the usual drinks of choice, and hard to get use to it. But once you do, oh man.

I gotta say that my favorites are still Guinness and Killians Irish Red.

The hops are caramelized, giving it a much sweeter flavor the longer it's brewed for. That said, stone ruination is F*CKING nuts and I love it.

 Re: Great Beer!
What I'd really like is for people who are trying out new brews or have just discovered one to post here. It's great to post all-time favorites though, especially if they aren't generally known or if you just REALLY enjoy drinking Miller High Life, I suppose it's okay.

Hooker wrote: The hops are caramelized, giving it a much sweeter flavor the longer it's brewed for. LOLWUT? Hops don't caramelize -- they can't, because they don't have any (significant amount of) sugar in them. The reason 90 and 120 don't taste as hoppy as some IPAs is because they have a shitton of malt which ups the sugar content. The excessive sweetness covers up the bitterness but not to the point that you feel like you're drinking sugar. The name of the game is balance, and Dogfish Head wins at that game. Their 60, 90 minute and 120 minute IPAs are the among the most balanced I've tried.

 Re: Great Beer!
Exodus Porter by Sweetwater Brewing in ATL is by far one of the best beers IMO, along with their 420 pale ale is pretty solid.
I've got a friend who home brews some awesome brown ale.
I need a beer now...
mmm beer
