fish: what can the iPhone do that my G1 can't? Absolutely nothing. Oh, and all of the apps I've got on my phone were 100% free. AND I can plug my phone in as a USB hard drive and put music on it without having to use any special software (itunes, etc).

Htc 3125 flip phone, had it for about 2 and half years now.Tough ass phone,washed in the washing machine once and came back to life after 2 days.

I have the Blackberry Bold. I needed emails sent to my phone for my job.

Pros:
-- I need a real keyboard. I like the iphone keyboard for one or two word google searches, but I haven't been able to write emails on it, especially when driving. I might not be trained or used to it yet, though.
-- 3g is fast.
-- Has 3g, wifi, bluetooth, GPS and camera all integrated into one device
-- Until recently, Blackberry really dominated the cell phone email business, it couldn't be easier to setup and use the phone for email.
-- Haven't had many dropped call problems since I upgraded from the Blackberry 8820 (I think its because of the 3g but I really have no idea).

Cons:
-- Its so damn expensive. The phone was expensive, and to get unlimited data I end up paying around $100 / month. I'm not sure if thats normal but to me thats expensive! Luckily I expensed the data plan every month so I could keep my voice number (otherwise I could use a phone from my company that they paid for).
-- Battery life sucks. Unless you hack it by going into engineering screens and disabling some random feature I barely get a day (18hrs) of use. Mind you, thats with bluetooth and wifi turned OFF. If I had them on it would reduce the life to like 13-14 hrs. Of course, the battery has some magical way of knowing when you're going to miss that late night booty call or whatever and turns off mid conversation.
-- Not as many apps as the iPhone, or probably even the GPhone -- although they did roll out a new Blackberry App World Application similar to the iPhone App Store.
-- Internet browser is good, but doesn't support Flash or even AJAX, limited JS support.

The best part about a blackberry, as far as I'm concerned, is that when you upgrade a new phone, you can transfer EVERYTHING yourself. Not just numbers, not just contacts, but emails, texts, email accounts, alert profiles, applications, themes, etc. I bet you can do that with some of the newer phones, I don't know, but this is the first phone that I have that you can do it and it really is a time saver.

I dont know what your talking about. All you have to do is change the operating system. Some of them have better battery life than others. I am constantly on my phone sending e-mails and texts and the occasional phone call here and there and I get about 2 days worth of a full charge. You might want to head over to http://www.crackberry.com and go to the forums there and read up on all the stuff thats going on with Blackberries.

But your right about apps. The blackberry is not in the Iphone category of apps, Iphone was initially designed for all the little tween apple lovers and thats why it has such great apps. Blackberry on the other had was designed at the business end of the market and is now trying to extend its reach to the tweens.

I've been a blackberry user from day 1 and I've never had any problems with my phones. Theyve been quite the excellent buy but yes they are very expensive.

Samsung Rant

I just got the Samsung Eternity. It basically has everything I need, and though there is no wifi, 3g with unlimited data plan is more than enough for me. With youtube, some tv, pdf & office viewer, it's an excellent phone.
