Post Mr_Jeep and I bought a Van!
We should make him change his name to Mr_Van... lulz.

But yeah, we bought this van for the sole purpose of turning it into a pirate ship to take to an annual party I attend called "Pirate Weekend."

However... after buying the van, I've realized that it has all sorts of awesome potential. I mean, this van could be the A-Team van, the Mystery Machine, a creepy pedo-van, an 80's themed TRON-style van, and all sorts of stuff.

The problem here is that if I want to make the van a pirate ship, we want to cut the top off of it so it looks more like a truck (half of the sides gone and the roof gone from the drivers seat back). If we do that, there's really no going back. Pirate Weekend is three months away, and I think that the ship project, if done right, would take quite a bit of time to do right.

That's when I thought to myself.... why not wait a year? This year, we can still take the van, but paint it all flat black and put our pirate logo on the sides/hood of it. It'll still be bad ass and piratey, and it'll still be a van. That way, when we're done, we can cruise the pirate van around town as long as we want, and then convert it to something else when we get bored.

After we've had a year of ridiculous fun with the van, we can go with our initial plan and cut the top off of it and go all out with wood-paneling pirate-style.

So, Mr_Jeep wants to go straight into the pirate ship, as that's what we initially purchased it for. This van is so friggin awesome, though, so I think we should do other stuff with it before we destroy it by cutting the top off.

So, am I a dick for wanting to do other stuff first? Should we go straight into the pirate ship project, or should we do some crazy van-related hyjinx first?

Is'nt there a way of making the roof removable? I mean like a Jeep hard top where you could put it back on after the pirate weekend. You know you should go get some bull horns like you see on the hoods of the old Caddies. Put the A-Team wing on it aswell!

But, the also remember, in in back there is not air conditioning or ventilation, it is for only working.

I think with top cut-off, or may be removable sied panels, like a Jeep, would be perfect for hot wether Texas having.

This way, if rain, sides you can attchment, but, it hot sun, you can have cabriolet.

With sides, I am think we use vinyl, with snaps like on my Jeep, so is it easy to remove, and able to be paint over.

Ahh just spray paint free candy on the side of it and be done with it.

Personally, what I would do with the van: I would make it into my own personal molester van. Put a sign on it that says "Free Candy" or something like that, and just go trolling around...

But...that's only what I would do....

DAMMIT! Geno already beat me to it! I like that feature on this new site...goes through all the posts and makes you aware that someone's already posted something close to what you were going to post...

If you cut off the top the sides will be all wonky, unless you weld a frame up in there..

Might be better to cut port holes in the sides, and open up the roof.. also.. you gotta keep the rear doors operational, as it's the only proper place for the plank.

Remember that van scene in "Old School" with "Master of Puppets" blasting? Yeah. Vans were made for that.

Coolest F*CKING van ever.

The van from the movie Fanboys and School of Rock are also nice.

I have always loved old flat panel vans. Problem here in Michigan is most vehicles rust out if 5 years so finding one in good shape involves driving south.

Great look van though. I would plaster the n00b url on the side with free candy and roll with that around town. Use the colors from the forums and paint that bitch up.

Carb is a bit funky. It needs some seafoam run through it -- if that doesn't fix it, then it'll need rebuilt.... not a big deal.

Oh, and one of the power steering hoses is leaking. when you turn, it sprays hydraulic fluid out the front under the bumper. The hose will be less than $20, and the seafoam should be under $10. Carb rebuild kit is $25. Basically, we'll be able to get it in 100% operating condition (all fluids flushed, filters replaced, carb fixed, etc) for under $100.

WIN!

Oh, it's a 300cc inline-6 gas engine.

2 fuel tanks.

The inventor of Seafoam should get an award of some sort. We dumped half a bottle in the gas tank of a 81 Honda Goldwing that could barely idle without dying. Now it's probably running better then it has in the last 15 years. Still rebuilt the carbs but that was only because the guy who owned it before didn't do it right. But when we took them off, shit was spotless.

I am talking to Bandy right now. He's game on Jones! He wants a drawing so he'll be able to tell you what you need to buy in steel. He'll help out on this shit for parts only. So give us a drawing to work with. He said he needs dimensions, height, depth and width so he can give you a fairly accurate plan on what to buy in steel. Lemme know nukkas!

We'll do the cut one next year, Coach. This one won't need too many modifications.
