I don't really know what a good one would be, but stay away from anything Alienware. Giant hunks of shit with pretty lights glued to it.

Re: best laptop to play cs
I would think you could score one in the 800 range if all you were worried about was cs or that generation of games.Your gonna want a new one in a 2-3 years anyway why pay for a bunch of tech you dont need.In my experience laptops that can play the latest and greatest are problematic due to heat and power issues. But if this is a gift and you can get one up to that price point, then hell go for the gold.Better to have the tech and not need it,if moneys not a problem.

You don't need a decked out laptop to run CSS but with CS:GO requirement isn't out yet, maybe wait and see?

The word is that CS:GO runs on DX9 in order to have a similar experience across platforms and is being developed using the Portal 2 engine (how many times have I said this in how many threads?).

Remember this? http://www.onlive.com/service/cloudgaming or this? http://www.quakelive.comIt could be the same concept. Oh wait, REMOTE DESKTOP, the Windows feature. I haven't tried that yet, only fartin' with someone's computer to fix it.

Re: best laptop to play cs
I got a dell xps because i am currently going to college and they actually gave me a thousand dollars credit. So i signed my life away and got a 1000 dollar laptop the dell xps 17 with geforce gt 550m nvidia graphics and it is F*CKING smooth as hell but I am overclocking my graphics too and it still stasys cool. Not to mention it runs rage and battlefeild 3 like a dream.

It usually has a problem with initializing things, but if you already have them initialized it doesn't give you shit. I can run solidworks off my desktop using my laptop like a friggin' dream. I haven't tried anything else, really. But I have gotten an openGL error when I try to initialize it.
