Post Computer help plz
I'm trying to decide on a computer to buy. Ive never bought a computer before, I've always built my own. But it seems the parts I put together is over 1k, and i definitely dont have that much to spend on a computer. So, I'm looking for suggestions. I have a couple examples here of what exactly I'm looking for.

Power supply: just enough to power hardware
Vid Card: prefer 1gb but 512 is kool
Memory: looking for 4gb+
CPU: 2.5+ quad...if its dual 3.0+
Hard-drive:600,700 gigs?

And, I would like to know if computers that are already assembled from newegg, or other online companies similar to newegg, actually use decent motherboards...or are they trash...

see how it works is...

you buy a pre-built, with a name brand vid card, and cpu, and maybe even ram.. all supported by a piece of shit powersupply, running the cheapest mainboard and drives they could get ahold of.

go lookin for cheap.. you'll get cheap.

Intel i7 920 $279.99
ASUS P6T SE $209.00
Corsair 750W PSU $119.00
Corsair dominator 6GB $183.00
xfx Radeon HD4850 1GB $119.00
WD caviar "black" 1TB $94.99
Coolermaster HAF 922 $99.00

the above comes in at $1,198.00

Drop the cpu/mainboard to a core 2 setup and take off $200

drop the ram down to 3 gb drop another $100

same ball park, much higher quality hardware.

I used to work at a Future Shop (basically like a Best Buy but better) so I got a wicked deal on an Acer that was being taken off the shelf for a newer model. The Acer case is one of the better ones for store bought cases. The case gives you more room for upgrading and storage space, the one I got had 6 harddrive slots while the HP and Compacts had 1. Piece of advice if you do go into a store to buy a computer, look for open box or clearance systems. The store needs to move that stuff first to make room for new systems so they will make stupid deals to get rid of them. I always got them to throw in a free video card as part of the deal if it does not come with one.
