I believe the destroyed-home count is over 500 currently. PitStop's area was evacuated and he's currently at mine & Strange's place. There are no big fires near my house, thankfully, but a lot of people I know and grew up with have been evacuated and some probably lost their homes. Crazy stuff.

It's so bad that the county I live in has outlawed any outdoor fires. Grilling and even SMOKING outside are arrestable offenses.

Good to know Pit Stop is safe, I hope his house remains when he goes back to it. Good luck to you and yours... I hope the fire doesn't spread to you.

NO GRILLING?! HOW WILL A MAN LIVE?!

Is this because it's been so hot dry this year? I hope things stay safe for you guys and glad to hear Pitty was placed in a good home for now.

The entire northern part of Michigan does this as well, except for the smoking thing. We have some property that we store campers on in Grayling and fires are a yearly thing. Last year we nearly lost our 3 campers because of some bunghole with a cigarette. They get so bad that they use the National Guard from the base in town to fight fires in the area. Just dry dry and dry.

We were up there last weekend and it was good that it rained so they lifted the no burn and we could have campfires once again.

Is that the first major fire in Texas (ever or in awhile)? I usually just see news on California's fires but nothing anywhere else in the country.

No, Texas has been on fire all year long in one spot or another. Recently, Ft. Davis had 60,000+ acres burn and you can't go a day without hearing about a fire here or there. It's so dry, because of the drought, that it takes next to nothing to spark a fire down here.

Sucks for you guys. Stay safe. I imagine that they have been controlling the use of water, as well.
