Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
I'm looking into getting a suppressor for my S&W M&P 15. I've read that you can buy a 30cal suppressor and put it on a .223 and the sound difference is marginal. That would mean I'd have a suppressor that'll work on a .22, a .223, a 7mm, .308, and any other 30-cal rounds (like 7.62x39).
Anyone know any good brands? They all look the same to me and it's hard to pick a starting-point for shit to look at.

Planning a hit? I really didn't even know they were legal. So how does it attach,do you have to get your barrel threaded? They all look expensive, wonder how hard it would be to just make one if you had access to the right tools.Cant be that complicated, basically two pipes with some sort a of dampening material. You know us country boys always think we can do it ourselves.
When i was a teenager someone told me if stretch a bottle nipple over the barrel of a 22 that it would sound like a whisper.Several nipples later i found out that was a lie.

Re: Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
You have to go through a 3-4 month approval process to buy a tax stamp from the ATF for one. It's a shitload of paperwork and red tape, but you can legally own one if you do all of that. The tax from the ATF is a flat $200 I believe. It's the same for a fully-automatic weapon. I want something to make my .223 quiet so I don't have to wear ear protection when I shoot it. It's seriously as loud as a F*CKING cannon.

Re: Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
the only suppressor I have seen a guy had it on his 30-06. he used it plus subsonic ammo and the only thing you could hear was the bolt cycling the round.
This was probably 6 months ago but he said something along the same lines as what your talking about in regards to switching it between calibers. From what I can remember there was a piece that attached to the end of your barrel with threads then you could screw the actually suppressor on and off as you please.
if I remember he had one from Advanced Armament

Re: Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
I was looking into getting one a couple years ago for my sig mosquito, ill leave the reason out ;) but, the owner of the gun shop told me an interesting little fact. When you get the ATF stamp, you waive your rights for unwarranted searches. They can search your house and property at anytime (ATF based im sure). I never did get one, so i didnt look into it any farther. could of just been blowing smoke up my ass, but i think it would be worth investigating.

Pre-patriot act I would have thought this to be absurd. Now I find it completely plausible.

Das: that's completely inaccurate and a myth that circulates in US class-3 circles. Some googling debunked it pretty quickly.

I've watched that show "Sons of Guns" and they put suppressors on AK-47s and Shotguns, Maybe you should try looking up Red Jacket suppressors.

Re: Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
Patiently waiting for these to become legal in Michigan.
Some states have mirrored federal law with ownership of a suppressor, not Michigan. FAGS!
Class - 3 is would be great to have if I could afford something in full auto. Shit is $

Re: Does anyone know anything/own any suppressors?
$2800 + a class 3 firearm stamp + about a 9-10 month wait (3-4 months for the ATF to complete the paperwork and THEN 6 months for them to build it and ship it).
I'm far, far too impatient for that.
