Lately my computer (which is only not even 2 years old), suddenly freezes and the fan starts blasting. I force it to shut off, turn it back on, and when I'm logging in on Windows I get the blue screen which starts going up in percentage of CPU usage 1% 10% 50% until it gets to 100% and then it restarts. This has been going on for the past half hour and its pissing me off. Any ideas on how to fix it? Note I haven't ever cleaned it to get dust out if that could be a problem..

EDIT: I don't know when I'll be back in the server.

right click on the clock (usually right bottom corner) -> Start Task Manager Processes tab -> Show processes from all users - > order descending by CPU and see what process eats the computing power. De-dusting may be one thing, other may be some malware that got into your system. So if something else than System Idle Process eats CPU, kill it and google what did u get.

Also, I'm really, really surprised that your are getting blue screen. I thought it'd be white.

Wtf never knew that.. Always tried to click the little ass area in-between the last program and the icons.

You can do it anywhere on the task bar.

Malwarebytes and a can of compressed gas will do that blue screen some justice

Since I'm pretty sure you're using an alienware, I'd be willing to bet it's a thermal issue. Clean your shit out. Most Dell systems (I know this because my work laptop is a Dell) will down-clock the CPU if it gets too hot. Instead of overheating and just rebooting, it'll try to slow your system down to reduce the heat and it'll end up making your CPU utilization spike up to 100% when you're not doing shit. If it slows down enough, your system will eventually either freeze, reboot, or bluescreen/reboot.

I agree with Gman,sounds like a thermal issue.If cleaning the dust doesn't work it could be time for to clean and reseat your cpu with some more thermal paste.After you clean the cpu heat sink put your hand on it to see if its getting hot,if its not then its not transferring the heat and the cpu would get too hot in seconds causing a reboot.If that's the case then some thermal paste is your future.

If that doesnt fix it,it could be driver conflicts.Especially if you have updated any lately.But this is unlikely.And i hate to say it but it also could be the psu not being able to deliver when the cpu throttles up.

I dusted it out, the fan was filthy but I got it all out. Unfortunately that didn't fix the problem. The blue screen is different though from the regular one, the CPU usage must be messed up because the message on the blue screen mentions that. It could be a thermal issue, I try to keep it as cool as possible but I am in Southern California and it is summer time so I wouldn't be surprised if it is over heating.

I doubt the ambient temperature is having any effect on it.Unless its like 100 in your house.Like i said before,fire it up and touch the heat-sink.If its not getting hot then its time to re-paste it.Cpu usage has nothing to do with it,when you move your mouse your cpu usage will jump to 100%.It is designed to run at full load cool enough not to reboot.For a computer to be stable it should be able to handle prime95 for 24hrs,which is a load you will never put on it.

If your heat sink is getting hot then im gonna say its psu not being able to give the goods when the cpu starts demanding it.The motherboard is probably not getting enough juice to give the "power good" signal.Which means it will just keep rebooting.

open the case and point a small house fan into it. i did that with an old desktop of mine for like a year until i could afford to get a new computer.
